Lost motivation, but have plenty of reasons

I'll be honest, I'm not sure why I'm posting this... I have PLENTY of reasons to lose this weight and get back to being serious with it, but I seem to be lacking it... I guess I've lost motivation, but I don't know? When I go to eat something, I keep telling myself, "eh, you only live once" or "eh, just today, tomorrow I'll do better"... I lost weight well from January til about April... was very strict on myself and it paid off... then my mom got really sick and passed away from cancer in May. In the beginning of June, I got engaged. I have a 4 year old son. I have PLENTY of reasons to lose this weight, PLENTY of motivation...why do I just feel...burned out?
sorry for the rant, I think I needed to get that off my chest, but if anyone has any insight, I'm all ears. Thanks everyone!

I am very sorry for the loss of your mom, I bet that was (is) a difficult time in your life. Maybe you should pick one thing to be your motivation, like your wedding for instance? Planning a wedding can be very stressful and probably even more so when you throw a 4 year old into the mix. Try to set daily/weekly/monthly goals for yourself and then work towards those. Thank you hhayes06, that's a good point! If I can get myself to do smaller goals, with one large one in sight (the wedding), that might help... it's re-training my brain to back away from the bad stuff that's hard!0

i'm sorry for your loss *hugs*
sounds like you've gone through a lot this year and life gets crazy.
i guess you can think about what about losing weight and being healthier will mean to you. how would it make you feel? then go to those thoughts instead of "eh, it won't hurt today"
you can even do a vision board with all the things you want to happen in your life. you can post inspirational quotes, photos of your husband and son. your mom and family and friends. the dress or outfit you'd like to fit in. love yourself enough to know your worth it. be nice to yourself. go for a walk, buy yourself some flowers, read a book. whatever things that bring you peace and enjoy. and do one thing a day.0 -
I hear you on that one, my hard habit to break is snacking after I put my boys to bed. It's the first time of the day where I get to sit and relax without being pulled or jumped on and I just eat. Breaking habits is hard but definitely doable. You will get back on track, have faith in yourself! :happy:0

I think it's just like you have both said, so much going on right now... I really like the vision board idea! I'm also currently working 2 jobs/7days a week, so on top of everything else, I feel like I have no time to get things done, so it's creating extra stress...oy! LOL
I don't know what it is, but right now, the "fire in me" is starting to feel more "lit" from just coming back on here... again, thank you both so much!
Before my mom passed away, to not end up like her was my main inspiration...so I think a little depression with her passing is kind of what has given me the "eh, who cares?" kind of thinking... almost like I'm feeling like, "well, she tried and tried again to be healthy, and still got cancer and passed away at 55, why do I try?" but everytime that thought comes in my head, it scares me enough to have a good diet day that day...
I know this isn't a psycology board, but the inspiration and motivation really helps!0 -
Get back to the simple things.
First just try to maintain what you have done so far.
Then work towards dropping more.0 -

I wanted to add that slowly but surely as you get back on track, you stop craving the junk as much. When you are in that bad eating cycle, it is like you can't help but crave the processed food and refined sugar. Baby steps, and keep congratulating yourself on your progress.0 -
I too am sorry for your loss. Sucks to lose a parent. Been there, done that.
About getting back on the wagon. Maybe you need some time maintaining instead of losing. Take some long reflective walks, working on eating the number of cals to maintain, find something to take your mind off things a bit.
And some off the wall advice, avoid the radio for a time unless you are by yourself. I had to. Every d*mn song seemed to remind.0
