Confused on what my intake and net should be?

I'm 5'6, 132 pounds. My BMR is 1,427 and I eat around 1,200 calories each day or less, and only manage to really work off 200 or so calories because I get tired.
I'm confused as to what my net is meant to be..? I've read that it's meant to be a negative number, and I've also read that it's meant to be your BMR. I'm also not sure about my intake, as I've read it's too little, but then again how will I loose weight if it's as big as 1,400 calories or more.
I'm sorry I know this has been asked a lot, but I really am confused.

It is a bit confusing isn't it? Basically your net calories are the calorie goal minus any exercise you have done. In other words let's say your goal daily calorie intake is like mine: 1600, today I ate 1594 calories in food and I did exercise which burned 771. So my net calories is 823.

So: What I ate minus the exercise I burned off.

If you have it negative numbers you will starve!!!!

According to most people, your NET should be at least 1,200; according to others, ideally it should be your BMR. Really, it depends on who you're talking to, a lot of people have different opinions on this sort of stuff. Find out which works better for you, though by the looks of it you're probably eating too little if you're feeling tired all the time :flowerforyou:

Well in general you should eat a min of 1.2k calories a day to maintain body functions correctly, I admit I rarely do, but meh... that is just me...

I also occasionally train into the negatives for net, but that is fairly easy when you consider I run and am busy training for a marathon in september...

I think try to eat a bare min of 1.2k a day, what you work off you work off... That has worked perfectly fine for me... The occasional day or so where I am around 2k calories, isn't a train smash as usually that is alcohol calories....

So yea... don't over complicate things.... If you eat less than before and your output is greater, you WILL lose.... Obviously you don't want to eat too little else you will slow your metabolism :) but this whole eat your training calories back? Your trying to LOSE weight, not maintain.... if your maintaining then sure by all means, not saying you shouldn't have something after though... maybe a protein bar or protein shake?

And at the end of the day, just get the nutrients you need... take vitamins if you can't figure out what not yet, but try to get everything still :)

Intake should be set to what you want to be honest... as long as not less than 1.2k it is fine... net? Well just really ignore it... keep it as a cushion for those days where maybe you DO have a drink or something, or a piece of cake or what ever... Net is a cool idea, but your body needs to have less calories than normal to lose your weight... Training is one of must do things, makes you stronger, faster and better at burning those calories too! It's a win/win story :)

That means that you are eating stuff that is high in those numbers. You should check the labels on the things you eat to calculate how much you have left for the day. Try to eat stuff with less fat and whatever else you monitor. Its all about fitting it into your calculations. It could mean that your getting duped on something else since you other numbers are higher. And just because your under your calorie limit doesn't mean everything else will be because everything is made differently.

MFP does track the protein and fat

Yes, it tracks it daily and weekly.

Go to HOME, click Daily AR the top, and you can see it in numbers or as a % pie chart. I use the chart for keeping an eye on my macros as it's easy to see what I need to eat to get in the right %.

I'm set at 40% carb, 30% fats and protein.
