I was thinking about how much money I spend on staying fit and was curious if I was spending more or less than other MFPers. My breakdown is as follows:
Yearly Vitamins - 1920
Yearly Protein Bars - 520
Yearly Gym Membership - 450
Fitness DVDs - 360
Home Gym Equipment - 7010
Of course none of this factors in shopping for special foods and eating right.

well i think i spend far less on being fit than what i was spending on being fat! not to mention long-term costs (health insurance, illnesses, meds, etc.) for being overweight would eventually add up. health food is a bit more expensive, but i eat less of it, and if i feel better overall, i think it's worth every penny! interesting you actually broke it down. maybe i will later when i have had more sleep. LOL0

I spend a ton. But it's what I need at this point to keep me on track
Personal trainer is 360 per mo
Gym is 40
Continuously buying gadgets like fitbit hrms ect. Books. Magazines.0 -
Running shoes - $10
Rebounder - $35
Hand weights -Free! (used to belong to my brother)
Resistance tubes - $15
Cycling machine - Free again!! (It was a gift)
Total = $60
I also have a Netflix account that I use for workout videos, but we use it for so many other things I don't really count it. I don't make a lot of money (so I can't afford a gym membership or a lot of home workout equipment), but it's not hard to lose weight on a budget.0 -
Wow, reading that made me feel a lot better about my new $130 running shoes!0

Lets see. I spend about $250 for my gym membership per year (college rec center). Its a very nice, needless to say. My shoes, my boyfriend bought me. I bought my hand weights, $35. Other than that I borrow my workout dvds from friends. I recently just started Insanity and I have done one month of P90X.0

I find I spend less cause I don't eat out as much. My groceries around the same maybe a little more sometimes but due to couponing I can afford to eat healthier0

I've had many people think that I spend a ton of money on staying/being fit. I spend less on it than my fricking yearly car insurance.

that's some expensive yearly vitamins..... jaysus0 -
Not as much as I spent on being fat..... No more obscene bar tabs, no more drive thru, no more junk food aisle at the grocery store... The amount of money I spent on my running shoes could have easily been spent on a weekend of drinking, and I'm definitely not buying new sneakers every Friday.0
-
So much I could probably do a round trip of the world three times over in the same amount I spend on fitness from memberships, to vitamins, to gear, to clothes, to massages....You could say it's an expensive addiction.0

I spend a lot.
But balanced with what I save, I come out way ahead.
CONCLUSION: I make money being fit!0 -
A lot less than my husband who's about to have I-band surgery.0

How much money do you spend on being fit??
Less than it would take to spend on high health/medical costs from being out of shape, overweight and ending up with things like HBP, heart disease, diabetes, etc.
Also, less than it would take for a therapy session every week to help me to alleviate stress in my life.
Exercise does so much for the body.0 -
not much when I extract unhealthy food I do not get.......0
-
I spend $40/mo for gym membership
$35/mo on protein
$20/mo on supplements/vitamins
So that's about $1140/yr... add in some workout clothes/shoes... prolly about $1300..
Now take away all the junk food I don't buy, the fast food I don't eat, the new clothes I don't buy because my other ones are too small.... PRICELESS!!!0 -
$2,000 on vitamins?? Dang!
I spend:
$120/year - gym membership
$75-100/year - multivitamins/calcium supplement
$120 - shoes
$100 - clothes
ETA: about $60/month on protein, maybe?
My grocery bill is about $200/month.
Now I'm jazzing for a run...it's supposed to be my rest day. Hmmm0 -
that's not too bad, i would rather invest in being fit than living to be out of shape0
-
$2000 on Supplements
****loads on Organic foods
Workout DVD's - 1000
Shoes- easily $1000
Workout Gear $500
Health is worth every penny to me....................0
