I'm 49. I've lost 54LBs since I've started this journey on Jan 16,2012. I've been doing cardio 5-6 x per week. I want to start strength training to firm up my body...Still have at least 25 more LBs to go. The problem is that I have shoulder issues in both arms. Bone spurs and rotator cuff problems. I have an athletic build...do not want more muscle...just tone and strength but don't want the pain or cause any more damage. Any ideas? Also I work out at planet fitness. Is the circuit training there a good idea?

    Anyone??? Help???
  • When you work out shoulder always go light weight high reps. Never lift a motion where your shoulder click or pop. I had shoulder surgery also on my RC. I would recommend adding a band workout just for your shoulder every 3 days regardless of what you worked out that day to strengthen the muscles around the joints/ligiments to you don't injure yourself more. This will not make you bigger. Here is an example link http://www.bodylastics.com/shoulders/

I do 3x15 crossovers both weight every other day with a band in my door.
