I need a band-aid

It has been a very frustrating weekend. Nothing too terrible, just stuck home with my 3 youngest children while my husband is off on a camping trip with my oldest son. I've taken the children to the movies, we've played games, and just hung out. But now I'm tired and worn out and just feeling a little hazy blue. Just the kind of feeling that makes me want to seek solice in a candy bar, just a little sugar band-aid to sooth my troubled soul.

What do you do when you want a sugar band-aid? Keeping in mind that I am stuck home with 3 young children. (P.S. Please be kind. I'm really looking for constructive answers, not something like "Snap out of it, Dummy")

I read and ignore everyone around me. Also try fruit, the sweetness usually helps. Also skinny cow has some great bar things that are about 100 cal less than a candy bar but just as sweet.

Put the kids to bed, have a bubble bath up to your neck and do some pampering, face pack, manicue, pedicure etc.

Keeps your hands out of the treat cupboard and boosts your mood.

    Enjoy x x

Its okay to indulge a little every now and then! This isnt a diet, its a lifestyle change. Just get a low cal , low fat/fat free treat for yourself! (: Goodluck (:

Fruit is a good option, oranges are my favorite, peeled and ever so carefully denuded of all traces of pith...drink a big glass of cold water, too...then BRUSH YOUR TEETH when you are done, it will really help stop that urge.

Just ate an apple with peanut butter. Have felt a little "blah" all day. It perked me right up!

Peanut butter (1 tblsp) on a couple crackers with a tsp of honey.

I would spend the rest of the evening with BOB burning off those extra calories.

get a dove bar and share it with the three kids , that way you and the kids get a treat and none of you over do it, also you can show them how to share. I also like the bubble bath and pampering . the furit will work if it isn't a chocolate craving and skinny cow or healthy choice fudge bars are a wonderful 90 cal. and work well also.

    good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions. I had a big bowl of frozen berries (actually it was just a little bowl by the time my children finished with it), some carrots and some string cheese chased down with a gummy bear vitamin (we all have our vices). All of that got me through my workout, but now I feel too full to enjoy the chocolate/PB2 protein shake that I promised myself. My workout did clear out my hazy blues and now my psyche is rosy pink again. Though, I don't think I'll have much sympathy for my husband and son when they get home and complain about their aches and pains from horseback riding and camping for 3 days. The discomfort of being home with the disappointed children left behind trumps their recreation trip.:grumble:
