Multivitamin makes me sick

Any ideas how to keep from getting a sick feeling from a multivitamin?
I had to eat more than I intended because I was all done for the day, took the vitamin and was like "WHAM! Sick!" So I ate a small scone... Anyway, it put me over what I wanted to eat.
EDIT :: Thank you everyone. I realized through these posts that it was probably the iron. I had forgotten that I had taken an iron tablet to offset some recent, but not unexpected, depletion on the part of my body, and then I took the multivitamin some time later. I don't take iron often so I didn't even connect the two.

Take in the morning, then eat breakfast. If you take it and don't plan on eating, your tummy will hurt.0

Some of the pill form ones have made me sick in the past. Gummy vitamins don't seem to bother my stomach at all, and then there is a liquid kind I used to take that didn't bother me too much. So you could try swapping type or brand and seeing if that helps.0

Eat it with one of your meals. You need something on your stomach to eat it. Most people cant handle all the vitamins that are in a daily vitamin on an empty stomach.0

That happened to me before and I just stopped taking them. Hope someone else will come in here with a solution.0

Break in half, take half in the morning with breakfast and half with your lunch.0

It may be the iron content. I had that issue as well. Espescially if you eat plenty of meat and such. Look at your multi and see the iron content. If it's 100 percent try to find one that has half or non at all though you may have to go to an actual vitamin shop to find it.
Also, take it in the morning right before breakfast with a big glass of water. The food will help as will the water.0 -
After the same thing kept happening to me, my doctor told me that the iron in vitamins can be extremely irritating to the stomach (and my dad experiences the same thing). What works for me is taking the vitamin after a large meal (small meals or snacks don't seem to be enough). If you're one of those eat-little-meals-throughout-the-day people, try cutting/breaking the vitamin in half and take it in two doses rather than all at once.0

Centrum and One A Day did that to me. Puked in the hubby's car on the way to work one day. ugh. I now take Women's Active Mega from GNC and haven't had trouble with them.0

Ew, I'd like to know too! I took one and it made me throw up almost instantly after It was on an empty stomach, so I think they should be taken after or during your meals.0 -
I get sick from multi-vitamins. My doctor said have an intolerance for the coatings on the pills - something about dyes and such - so I don't even bother with the vitamins now. If I'm eating properly then I shouldn't need them anyway!0

don't take it on an empty stomach - take it after you eat breakfast. never good to take vitamins on an empty stomach..... I take vitamins and supplements in the morning and in the evening - and never get sick from them - but it's always after I have eaten (after breakfast and after dinner)0

I went through three different multivitamins. It didn't matter when I took them or how much food I ate. I went to my doctor and he told me to go back on the prenatal vitamin as I had no issues with it. Sometimes ones body does not tolerate certain brands etc.. I haven't had any issues being on this for the last year and a half. Good Luck...0

Try iron free ones. I had the same problem but iron free ones didn't make me sick. Also make sure you eat with them. I took slo fe for iron since I am in fact mildly anemic(one of the reasons I've tried to take them all the time).
At this time I take childrens chewables at night sometimes 2 of them. They contain iron yet don't make me sick I take them after dinner. I think they may have reduced iron though.0 -
It might have to much of something that your body can't handle. That happened to me and I asked the lady at GNC about it and she told me to quit taking them.0

I have found that cheapo vitamins do this to me, to the point where I almost throw up (and I have a really strong stomach) but good quality, more natural ones don't.0

I had problems with mine as well. I now take it before bed. I haven't been getting sick.0

Lucky. I never throw up. If I get nauseated I just have to sit through it because I am incapable of throwing up. I mean that literally. I had food poisoning once and, where other people would just throw it up, I had to lay propped up in bed for four days in pain. I tried everything. I would have killed someone to get rid of it.0 -

I have a really strong stomach as well. I very rarely get ill... I mean I have a stomach that has survived sushi that made other people cry. I will look into better quality ones later if these continue to cause problems.0 -
