Do the Calories Count?

Okay so yesterday I ate breakfast and went to the gym. After the workout I did not eat and went home to prep for a party. I made it to the party around 9pm. Then I ate some food. Then I had some drinks. I stopped recording the amount of drinks into the MFP app. Long story short i got drunk, got some drunk guy food and then vomitted all over my grandmother's kitchen floor. So the question is, do the calories of the food I threw up count?

lol...I vote no.0

lol seriously? Do you remember what you ate? I think I would chop up yesterday as a loss. Since you have no idea what your stomach kept and what you threw up I think I'd forget trying to log your meal. I would suggest not doing that again. It is better to eat 5-6 small meals instead of one.0

That's like asking if you count calories you ate because you took a crap today. if it goes in your mouth it counts. period.0

WHat if it is not fully digested?0 -

Its irrelevant really because you have no way of knowing what nutrients your body would have taken up, for sure the sugar from the alcohol would be absorbed very quickly. Just forget it & move on!0 -
LOL! Did you weigh the vomit? I don't think I'd count it as more than 4 calories/gram, the level of carbs. Did it look like carbs?
Yes, I'm kidding.0 -
Just move on.0

Just move on.
Yeah, that answer.0 -
learn from your mistake. no more drinking.0

Move on, don't get that drunk or even contemplate giving up the booze to stop you eating or getting your calories from nutritionally worthless sources (alcohol) because if you're so drunk you're sick you're negating any morsel of food that may have had some nutritional significance from being absorbed by the body.0

Hahah i liked this post. I know I've certainly questioned it too! From what I've read you still absorbed a portion of the calories before vomiting, just depends on the time between. I would probably just forgo counting this day and maybe work on some moderation I certainly understand though, been there!0

OMG - best answer ever! Love it!0 -
Your body is very efficient, and will absorb up to 90% of calories ingested relatively quickly. So yes, it counts, and yes, it sucks that you vommed it all back up.
But that poster above is right. It's just like taking a crap. It counts. :P0 -
Nothing counts when you're drunk. Especially the unprotected sex. At least, that's what we told all the girls at my dorm back in college....0

I lol'd.
In reply to the OP - I don't know. Considering that you don't know what you digested, I'd log it all and continue with my life. Also, I'd not get so drunk in future, and I wouldn't eat one meal in a day, and I wouldn't be looking for reasons to discount what little calories I did eat.
Also, don't be so drunk in your grandmother's house that you throw up. That is preeeeetty disrespectful.0 -
No calories consumed so they don't count.0

I'd chalk it up to a "not logging today" day.
Because the only way to be sure your body absorbed all the calories would be to eat the vomit.0 -
If you vomit due to actual sickness like the flu - you get a pass from logging. If you vomit because you drank to much and ate like crap you own those calories - log them all. You don't get a free pass because you can't handle your alcohol.0

all I can think of is man those calories in the drinks.. enough to get drunk.. is more calories then you can eat a day LOL I feel so guilty when I have a glass of wine.. 180 calories in that puppy ugh0

I'll bet your grandmother was more concerned about the calories that were on her floor. :drinker:
You are brutally honest with the people on this boards, so if you're going to be that honest with yourself, there is no such thing as a non-logging day. Liquid moves through your stomach and into your intestines fairly quickly, so I think you should take your best guess at the number of drinks you think you had and count ALL their calories. I'll hazard a guess that at least part of your food had digested and made its way into your intestines by the time you redecorated grandma's place, so maybe you should figure up the calories in the food you ate and count half of them.
I'll raise a toast to you for making me smile tonight. Good luck!0 -

It was a party, My G-ma went to sleep, everyone was betting that my aunt would toss her cookies first. I rarely drink and I consumed approximately 3-5 56 calorie vodka shots and a 265 calorie margarita.0 -
For a night of drinking to excess, it could have been a lot worse than 500 or 600 calories. Just wouldn't want to make a habit of that sort of thing, of course. Sounds like your family may not be completely in tune with what you're trying to accomplish with your diet. There's nothing wrong with enjoying a good drink or tasty dessert, but the most difficult thing is avoiding that second helping, especially when there's peer pressure egging you on to have more.
If you find yourself in a similar situation in the future, turn the tables on everyone and suggest that instead it should be a battle over who can eat the most hot peppers. Same amount of entertainment value for those in the audience, but much fewer calories at stake for the participants.0 -
According to my E.D. doctor, you absorb calories within 20 minutes of eating them, so puking more than 20 minutes after is pointless.0
