DOGS AND SAFETY LIGHTS!

My dad made a little invention for me on my night/early morning runs.

It is the blinky light from a bouncy ball, matched with a twist tie from a bread bag. I attached it to my dog's collar and when ever he pulls as we run the metal pieces get bounced together and it is activated.

I wanted to share this because my friend recently lost her dog temporarily during a night run. Her dog saw a bunny and pulled its leash right from her hands. She was devastated and could not find him, he ended up finding his way home. regardless of where you live, there are cars and other dangers for our beloved buddies. The light makes it so easy for someone to see your pet from a block away. She now attaches a bike blinker to her dog, I have a Boston Terrier, so he isn't all that big and I think a bike blinker would annoy him... So if you have an old bouncy ball in the junk drawer, use it to arm yourself at night or your buddy!

Safe jogs for everyone!

Pet shops have little collar lights and reflective leads for fairly cheap these days, at least in Aus.

We have something like that we put on our pugs. It's from New Balance.

I just think it's something that should be promoted and be made aware about for both humans and dogs. I hate hearing stories about people getting hit by cars at night (or animals) !

This is a really good idea! I would be so heartbroken if I ever lost my pup. I attach her leash to my water bottle 'fanny pack' so I'm hands-free and she can't run off.
