Zumba Fever!

SO, I started doing zumba ( on my Wii) About a month ago. I literally have NOT been able to stop doing it ever since. I am at least doing it 4-5 times a week, and it burns calories BIG TIME! I am finally getting a hang of all the fun moves, twists and turns, and sweating more than I ever have in my entire life!

Thing is, In this month I have only gone down 5 lbs! And that was all just last week. I'm sure its because of muscle gain, ( my calves especially are always burning during and after) but I guess I get REALLY confused when it comes to muscle/fat. If you are gaining muscle, and that burns fat, why is it that pants aren't feeling smaller, I GET that muscle weighs more... KEEP IN MIND.. These last 3 months have been my first ever in weight loss/muscle gain and a lifestyle change in general.. so I am fairly new and really learning a lot as I go.

Either way, I LOVE Zumba, I think it's a great work out, especially if you add walking/running and or biking! I sometimes even add a quick yoga session.

Anyone else got zumba fever? I have a couple on my friends list who SWEAR by it.. Anyone else add anything to their zumba regimen?!

I love, love, LOVE Zumba!!!! Unfortunately, due to chronic arthritis in my ankle I'm no longer able to do it. But I did it religiously for 2 years and lost weight and maintained it by because of zumba.

I started going to the local Y for zumba about 3 weeks ago and am totally addicted. I've never done it on the Xbox, but the energy you feed off of from 80+ people in a room is EPIC. I generally do it 4-5x weekly and know I burn at LEAST 800 calories each hour. As for the muscle vs fat game, it's been proven that muscle weighs the exact same as fat ounce per ounce. It's a giant myth that muscle weighs more. It took me losing 60lbs to go down 1 pant size. I understand that frustration you're feeling. I guess some people are lucky and see a difference more quickly than others. I've lost a total of 15 inches even though I've lost almost 70lbs. At this point, I decided it's less about numbers, and more about how I feel internally. Zumba gives you a total high and motivates me to get to the gym! If you have the opportunity, try taking a class. You'll meet new people as well as change up your routines! :)

I'm with you! I love Zumba too. I typically zumba 3-4 times a week, usually at 60 minute classes. Then Mon-Fri I do a circuit workout for 30 minutes in the morning to help with the strength part. My weight loss these past few months has been slow, but I haven't been restricting my calories as much and I have gone down a pants size or two. So it seems to be working for me. When I'm really careful with my calories, I still lose weight, but I credit Zumba for helping me maintain for sure!

I need a measuring tape.. been saying this for months now haha. I FEEL better than ever, and the scale is finally goind down.. and I KNOW I am doign something right because I sweat up a storm, and sleep like a rock.. I just wish my pants felt looser. They did, until i started working out harder, now I feel like my muscle gain is filling my pants up a bit! LOL!
