recently i've been eating good all week...really good. I aim for 5 servings a day of veggies, don't eat carbs at night, and have one drink a day.

but i completely let go and go over by 400-1,000(once) one time a week

could this do alot of damage?

at first i was thinking it was good- rather than going over by 100 or so once or twice a week if i go out to eat and dont want to starve all day, or go out with friends for a drink..or want something...or get stuck somewhere and have to eat machine/fast food..it happens.

i also saw on E!, this trainer said that you should aim to eat perfect 2 weeks out of the month..so i thought, how bout all but 4 days out of the month?

whaddya think?

I think you're right on! You have to splurge at least once in a while ( once a week is acceptable) or you'll end up gorging on everything in sight if you go to long! If you feel bad doing it, exercise a little more....I like a couple drinks on the weekend so I just adjust my calorie intake/exercise for that day.

    Hope this helps!
  • That's what my husband & I do. I think it keeps us from going crazy! We each take turns picking where we want to go out on the weekend. It gives us something to look forward to at the end of the week!

I lot of people do recommend this. The Body For Life program does this. Tom Venuto recommends you do this every once in a while. The only problem will be for people who can't stop at one day. i started out doing this and lost fine. I have recently started again. Hope it works for you.

hi, I also like to drink, so when I do drink its a couple shots with water and lemon on the side, the shot for the the buzz. I do this one weekend a month, something to look forward to after being good. I really want to loose weight and to me thats more important than the alcohol. Also 1000 calories is not enough, I think your setting your self up for failure when your starving yourself. You should have a nice treat daily, its something to look forward to, but keep it under 200 calories, even if its your one drink. Hope this helps, but remember its up to you. Good luck on your decision. Emily :drinker:
PS dont forget your protein, thats really really important. In the machines if they have beef jerky or cheese sticks that would be a better choice, but I would just carry something in my purse for those emergency days.

If this is working and you're losing, good. Everyone's body is different.
For me, if I let go, I'm gone for a week, month, or more.

So I am finding ways to make each day have something I like to eat that's nutritious but delicious. Gone is my bland program. I doctor stuff up with ortega chillis, parmesean cheese, lean turkey sausage, soyrizo in my scrambled eggs.
But I am doing the South Beach thing. Oh, and I rarely eat carbs other than oatmeal, some legumes, and whole grain stuff. Brown rice - 1/4 cup
    Just a suggestion.

:flowerforyou: I have followed a careful eating and exercising plan since January with no detours and have lost almost all the weight I hope to lose. Diverting from my plan wouldn't have worked for me. If you are able to leave weight, then by all means keep doing what you're doing.
