This is in the spirit of the other post regarding Animals
What I find horrible and wonder why no one is doing or saying any thing about this is how Pet Smart and Pet Co make small animals to suffer,
I am talking about Rats, mice, gunnie pigs,
And what I mean by suffer is this
how they:
repurduse these animals
shove them into way to small a space with way to many
ect
These poor creatures are put into little glass enclusures for most of there life, and they get beaten up by fellow animals, they have NO excersize nor do they have any mental stimulation,
And don't even get me stated on how I have heard they "manufcture" these pets,
if you look up why they are no longer selling dogs and cats you would be disgusted,
I think that all true animals lovers should stop these a holes

Interesting. If it were not for the purpose of being sold as pets however these creatures would have never been born in the first place. A glass cage is only as bad as you make it. Beats a sewar or moldy basement if you ask me...0

In the long run it boils down to respect of fellow creatures ( yes we're all in the category), We can't even respect each other on a day to day basis. People torture and kill other people and SOME people torture and kill animals. Its a total disregard for life as a whole not a thing of loving animals.0

I have Rats and they do have a sense of either a good life or a bad one, think of it this way
if you were locked up in a cell for the rest of your life and only given dog food and never saw the sun or was able to read any thing all you had was a tred mill would you want to conitnue living?

WOW...People are soooo phoney or maybe it's ignorance. How about cleaning Our own backyard. Aren't YOU outraged about the HUMAN Bondage. The Female and Children Trafficking, the Slavery that still exists in THIS Country and Overtly in Other Countries. MY GOD/GOODNESS. Where is your Outrage about that. This is what is meant by Keep First Things First! When one loses perspective it becomes Harmful.
To Love another and hate your own IS NOT HUMANE, it is INHUMANE and just EASY. You can solve the easy stuff/problem and leave the HARD work of Solving Human problems for True Humanitarians.0 -
But if I was born in that cell and ate dogfood from birth I would have no concept of life as we know it now and therefore no knowledge of a better life. Rats have no idea and if they did they probably would have staged some sort of uprising by now.0

I worked for PETCO. They are not the same as petsmart and the animals are not there for as long as you think. The store I managed almost got shut down due to the vet bills we would run up to make sure our animals were healthy and if they got sick they got the medication they needed and did not go to a forever home until they were healthy. Now about forever homes I did not send my animals out the door with people who were not prepared to care for them.
Petsmart on the other hand has death cages and have disgusting practices. As a pet lover I researched which comapny took and spent the better money in pet health.
BTW a petco gets shut down by the higher ups if animal care is not as it should be and if the animals are not coming first. Managers can even loose their jobs for this. If you see a problem bring it to their attention. Petco works closely with PETA to ensure animal safety.
I no longer work for PETCO BUT after knowing what I know about the background I would like to share out of the big box pet stores they are the better one.
Also the only charity that actually 100% of the money raised goe to the local charity that that petco chooses, I was able to raise a lot o money for a local shleter that I loved.0 -
the only time i go into petco (dont usually do petsmart) is when im buying a rat for my snake to eat.
though we do have some pet rats as well. they love their cage ;p0 -

They have a big Faret cage so they can breath the air, by the window so they get a breez, and they have tehir time where they can run around the dinnering room area, I block it off

what are you talking about poor treatment. the small animals I see in the larger pet stores live just as well as my rats. there cages are cleaned daily. they have plenty of toys and such to stay occupied. they spend time outside the cage everyday. I have never seen more than two ore three in one cage always the same sex, with plenty of space. to put that in perspective I personally refuse to spend any money at jack's aquarium and pets, because every time I have ever been in there I see 100 or more mice and rats in a cage the size of a 10 gallon tank. three or four generations at different stages of development. I would say in comparison the rats at petsmart live very well.0
