Hi Everyone,

Still new to the website and am on a diet that officially started two days ago. I jog/walk everyday, about 1.5 KM of downhill/uphill....

Am a big fan of beer!! I dont think i drink that much, once a week, 7 or 8 cans of Tiger Beer (330ml).

So my question is how can i balance between dieting and still enjoying my weekly drinking session. and i am thinking of drinking every other week.

will it ruin my entire diet??

one can is 132 calories. that is not to much.
But 8 cans is 1053 calories.... of course you can still enjoy it. just count every calorie! it wont ruin anything as long as you got the calories for it.

normally when i know im going to have a few glassses of wine or something like that i try to figure out how much im gonna drink in advance and then im planning my whole day in advance. I usually have a bit to much of a calorie intake days like this but my week will still be fine!

so enjoy what ever you want. But log it! and take an extra runningtrip the same morning.
but try not to jog the next morning, not while the alkohol is still in your system. leave that to the evening

I also enjoy a beer or a glass of wine. I find very similar to zammex that the days I know I'm going have a drink (or 3) I put those calories in first then all the food I have planned for the day this allows me to see what cals I have left or have gone over.

I can then do some extra exercise to compensate, and I try to have 3 or 4 days without alcohol as well.

Logging drinks as well as food has been really useful for me. It makes me stop to think about whether I really want to "spend" that 100ish cals on a beer or wine or whether I'd rather have more food at dinner time.

I didn't drink a lot before, but now I drink less often and when I do, I usually alternate with a soda water (plain sparkling water) in-between each drink. Unless of course it's a special occasion like my birthday when I eat or drink whatever I fancy!

So, drinking hasn't stopped me losing weight, but I am more conscious of how much - which I think is good for me health wise as well as weight wise.
