I need some ideas for food to take to work.. it must be tasty
restrictions are
must fit in a standard sandwich box
eaten cold..microwave not always availible
low calorie and filling
I get a fifteen minute break and a 30 minute one (if we are not too busy) need to eat on both breaks
I have no locker to store stuff in (we hot locker, you get one for the day)
at home I have no problem sorting out my food but for work I have no idea.

I've been taking a single serve packet of tuna (no refrigeration required) and a high fiber wrap (Ole has a wonderful one). Total cals with nothing else added is less than 150 depending on the tuna. Hight protein, high fiber, lo cal. I also will add an ice pack to my little lunch cooler. It keeps things chilled suffieciently until lunch time if you want to take something that needs a little refrigeration.
Last week, I made that crockpot buffalo chicken that was on the recipe board and took that for my wrap. Hard boiled eggs are also nicely portable.
I'll be interested in seeing other ideas, too!0 -
I have either Warburtons sandwich thins (thin slices of bread for only 100 calories per pair) or Kingsmill 50/50 pockets (pitta bread type things: 93 calories each) with cooked slices of chicken breast and cucumber and a piece of fruit. I'm usually OK until home time, but if I get peckish I'll have some rice cakes or nuts and seeds.0

I also struggle with lunches esp as I like lots of variation.
One of my fav lunches is tuna pasta salad, so tin of tuna, pasta, tomatoes, cucumber, peppers, spring onions, peas, sweetcorn, beetroot (and anything else that comes to hand) all mixed together with low fat mayo, herbs, salt & pepper. I can normally make this big enough for 4 meals, 2 for me & 2 for OH.
I try to avoid bread as much as possible as too much causes my tummy to bloat so other options are generally a salad with avocado & prawns, I make little egg tarts - line a ramekin dish with ham then beat together an egg with a touch of milk, seasoning pour into the ramekin dish and bake in the oven. Other option is to marinade a chicken breast with a bit yoghurt and tikka seasoning then dry fry off and have that with salad.
If you cant guarantee a microwave a lovely soup for summer is mint & pea, served cold - lovely. In fact I had forgotten about that until now so I might well make some this weekend, be a nice change.
Yesterday I was mooching for a snack and had a laughing cow light triangle and wrapped it in smoked salmon, it was gorgeous so they will be making their way into my lunch boxes in the near future.
I will also keep my eyes peeled for other suggestions. Thanks for the post0 -
i take salad and im the biggest salad phobe ever!
lettuce, chicken, sweetcorn, peppers, spring onion and some light coleslaw. My lunchbox has an icepack in the lid so it stays cool all day
