Slim in 6 and gaining weight?

So I started fitness pal about 3 weeks ago without exercising right away because I didnt want to start everything at once and get burnt out. I lost 6lbs. Today is day 6 of slim in 6 and I have gained 2lbs. I have been following my diet and eating most of the calories I burned working out. I have however lost 1 1/4 inches off my waist since I started working out. How can I lose inches but not weight? Feeling a little discouraged. Any help would be great. Thanks!

You lose inches and not weight because you are gaining muscle. Also, muscle retains water when it is healing so you probably didn't actually "gain" 2 lbs (you would have to eat an EXTRA 7000 calories to gain 2 pounds of fat.0

Yes inches is what you ultimately want to see go down! A pound of fat is the same as a pound of muscle but the pound of muscle takes up less space...note the loss in inches!! If you just keep working out you will see the scale move but right now it sounds like your body is changing fat to muscle! Which is great...that way when you lose the weight on the scale you will have the muscle underneath that will show up out of no where!!! Keep up the great work and watch what you eat and the finished product will be gorgeous!!!0

muscle weighs more than fat. therefore you may have put on 2lbs of muscle mass (also fluids from muscle inflamation). If you have lost inches, that means you are getting smaller and replacing fat with muscle. Dont be discouraged you are shrinking and soon enough the scale will reflect that as well0

This is why the scale lies. You have lost inches - this is the true measure of success. Keep up the good work!0
