Eat less or Exercise more? e

I am trying to come up with a plan, because i do my best when things are planned.
So my question is, which is more beneficial for weight loss, and which provides the greater results.
Should i eat less, exercise less. Or eat more exercise more.
Either way i yield the same NET calories for the day, but would one or the other help me more with weight loss?

I have heard that losing weight is 60% what you eat and 40% of working out. You'll lose weight if you watch what you eat and count calories. However, if you watch what you eat AND workout, you'll be more toned and have overall better results.0

If you are eating well, even with the extra calories, exercise more.0

I agree with those who say eat less will give you better results for actual weight loss. I have exerienced weight loss with both, I ate less and no exercise and lost weight, faster than with exercise. I then chose to eat less and exercise and I lost inches faster this route. For me, I chose to exercise to build endurance, muscle and so forth. When I didnt exercise, I did experience fatigue and just plain felt Blah!0

How do you see yourself maintaining your weight loss? For me, the choice is - eat less. I do know that regular exercise HAS to be part of my future, but I don't see myself doing "killer" workouts forever.
If you really love fitness, if it's going to be a big part of your future lifestyle ... then exercise more & eat more.0 -
If you net exactly the same both ways (and you are sure of your burned exercise calories, which is hard to do) both methods would produce the same weight loss.
But exercise (as long as you don't go overboard) is better for your overall health, and more food means more nutrients (vitamins, etc). So I'd pick more exercise.0 -
I have better results when I exercise more and eat more.0

From what I've heard, in general it's eating less, but at a certain point, it's about exercising more. I'm not trained/educated in this area, just trying to repeat what I was told by someone who was. From what I recall, basically he said that you have basic food needs that need to be met, and if they aren't, then the body will go into a state where it tries to conserve as much as it can, to help you live longer in this apparent food shortage. I wish I had received a little more clarity on this next part, but he said from that point, all you can do is exercise more. To me, that says that you can increase your calorie deficit further from that point by increasing your exercise, without your body going into panic over a food shortage. I've never had the dietary discipline to really put that to the test, though.0

For health being fit is more important than how much you weigh. Put fitness first and weight loss second. Exercise more and eat enough to support that exercise.0

When I have lost weight in the past, it was because I exercised more. Eating less only doesn't work for me because I don't have the self-control. Plus when I exercise regularly, I find that I actually crave healthier foods and are mentally stronger to resist temptations.
The bad thing about that is when I've dialed back by exercise, I have failed to dial back my food so I gained it back! Thanks for the post - I OBVIOUSLY need a plan, too.0 -
With a significant amount of weight to lose, I would suggest eating less. Gradually build exercise into your daily routine. Eat lower carb, lower fat foods and more protein.0

He is right on the money. Also you don't want to just lose weight you most likly want to look better. Just losing weight with less exercise will probably not lead to your ideal body.0 -
I eat less because I just couldn't work out enough to eat all the things I like. I'd probably have to be part of an arctic expedition, dragging my own sledge, to burn the 6000-odd calories I could happily eat in a day. I just watch the calories and then try to earn extra every day by exercising. It seems to work pretty well.0

I started off by eating less but my weight loss pretty much stopped so I decided I needed to exercise so I'm trying that now. If the weight loss doesn't happen at least I'll be in better shape and I have lots more energy.0
