hi all, im looking to change from my normal Light Soy Sauce to something with a lot less salt/sodium but with the same flaour. I know you can get low salt soy sauce but have never seen the light soy sauce in a low salt version....any ideas??

  • I have La Choy lite soy sauce and it shows on the bottle that it's 50% lower sodium than their regular version. So, you could look for that or else look for Bragg's liquid aminos as a soy sauce substitute. I'm not sure of the sodium content but I've heard of it as a replacement for soy sauce so, taste wise, it may be okay.

I believe that the "light" soy sauce IS the low sodium variety. There aren't many calories in soysauce...just a crazy amount of sodium as you mentioned. Unfortunately, I don't think that there are going to be many substitutes that are going to be comparable.

Ive used fish sauce and tamari soy but they too have alot of sodium. Just use less. There is really no way to mimic the "umami" that you get from certain products. Good luck!
  • I just use kikkoman less sodium.
