How can I feel full?

Hi everybody out there, I've just started and I already dread feeling hungry, even though I can't possibly be hungry at all. Any suggestions?

Drink plenty of water. Feeling a bit hungry won't kill you. Concentrate on what you want to achieve

Try bulking up your meals with more fruits and vegatables (either mixed with your meal or on the side). This was something I learned by doing weight watchers.

Dont eat a lot of processed crap and have whole, natural foods such a lean protein (chicken breast, lean beef, eggs etc), fruits, veggies, whole grains
  • carbonated water does it for me... not only does the water fill you up, but that bubbles give you that super full feeling
  • Thank you for replying so quickly - it's good to feel there is a lot of support. Good luck!

    more protein and veggies!

fat keeps you fuller for longer too, like bacon and eggs for breakfast.

Lots of water...I also try and make sure I try and have a mid-morning and mid-afternoon snack of some sort. Add me if you would like. Would be glad to support, encourage and occasionally kick you in the rear...kindly.

Anyone please feel free to add me as well.

    - eat protein at every meal, including breakfast.
    - eat 2 servings of raw veggies with lunch and dinner.
    - drink at least 8 glasses of water every single day.
    - Eat every 2-3 hours. If you eat breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner...you should be able to space them so there is no more than a 3 hour lag between any eating time.

Good luck, and know that you can do this! If you are eating properly you won't feel true hunger...but an overweight body that is used to feeling/being overfed WILL have to adjust to normal eating. So when you feel 'hungry' just assure yourself that you are not starving and keep it moving.

Protein and complex carbs! If you are feeling hungry grab that bag of broccoli and a boneless, skinless chicken breast and not that bag of chips. More seriously though...if you don't like those things try protein shakes I here they do wonders at keeping you full. I also like oatmeal in the mornings. It is cliche, but it truly does stick to your ribs keeping you fulller longer. More foods like that will keep hunger pangs away. :-)
  • Hello, name is April... I have been trying to lose weight for a long time i finally found something that works for me and may help your hunger problem.
in the morning i was eating 1 egg 1 piece of wheat toast and 2 slices of bacon. at snack take a 6oz cup and fill it with what you want usually some l\kind of cereal. or snack cracker .. then every 3-4 hours from the time that you start eating this you start again. a salad for lunch and a healthy dinner .. and lots of water as much as you can take. i lost 50 lbs and the hunger feeling didn't matter any more... i am working on going back to this is seems the only thing that worked for me :) also walking helps with the hunger feeling as well and not a lot of walking just lazy walks around the complex for about 15 minutes a day and an elastic snap band for when you head for food that you do not need. GL and all of this is just suggestions what worked for me may or may not work for others .. its worth a try <3 Good luck and add me if you like... its good for motivation to have people to talk to

Your diary is closed, so I really can't help a lot, but here are a few things I found:

    1. My diet started out with really healthy components in horrible proportions. My carbohydrates, though mostly of good quality, were too high, and my proteins and fats were disastrously low. You want protein and fat to fill you up. I started tracking my fats, carbs, and proteins and adjusted my diet to bring them in better balance. I'm now losing weight just as fast, but with almost no hunger.

    2. Cinnamon gum and extra water. It helped me through many a multi-hour rough patch with hunger. Cinnamon is an appetite suppressant and the smell of it overwhelms even the delicious odor of pizza emanating from the cafeteria.

Oatmeal is about the perfect breakfast (edit to add - as long as you aren't trying to go on a very low-carb diet - it's high in carbs but they are mostly healthy, complex carbs). Add some cinnamon to that oatmeal, too. It will further slow the digestion of the sugars, act as an appetite suppressant, and gives you a little iron and calcium.

You'll probably want a protein with that oatmeal as well. Fry up or hard boil an egg and it makes a real difference in terms of how long you can go until the next meal. Or try refrigerator oatmeal (mix equal parts old fashioned oats and yogurt, add a little milk, stir, and refrigerate overnight - google "refrigerator oatmeal" or "overnight porridge" for TONS of variations on things you can add to it).
