Joined as gym and now can barely move... any ideas?

HI everyone.
I have been a bit lazy lately so am trying to refresh my healthy lifestyle and kick of with more enthusiasm by joining a gym.
I had a programme today set for me and I really loved it - some cardio but lots of core work through the power plates and straps. Only problem is I can barely move now and can't imagine how I will feel tomorrow.

Can anyone please advise anything I should be doing this evening to try and ease of the pain and stiffness? I have taken anti inflamatories and feel good that I have exercised but am in agony!

    First - congrats on joining the gym! Now for the soreness, soak in a hot tub with epsom salts, stretch, drink lots of water and REST! I had a session with my trainer this morning and we worked my arms very hard! I told him I probably wouldn't be able to straighten my arms tomorrow. lol! I'll rest my arms 2 days before I'll work them again because they're pretty sore right now. Sometimes I need 3-4 days before I can push them again. And eat plenty of protein. :smile:

    Thanks for the replies. I have been again tonight and am getting stiff again so will try the water this evening and get the salts tomorrow. Thanks both for the feedback and encouragement. T x:smile:

    hot bath, if something is tight like you pulled it then tiger balm.

    Ibuprofen to ease the pain for a nights restful sleep.

    But really since you started a hard programme it's just a shock to your body and I am afraid no pain no gain. It wont last enjoy the pain it means you worked hard.

    After your workout you need to make sure you stretch and roll out your muscles. If your gym has a foam roller you need to use it. Roll out any muscles used during the workout. Hot water is actually not going to release muscular stress as much as people think it does. Ice cold water on the other hand will do the trick. Also, Ibuprofen will cause your blood cells to constrict and that will starve your muscles from acquiring the nutrients they so desperately need.
