Is there anyone else out there who skips tracking for a few days, then that turns into months?

Its not that its hard, just feels like a pain in the *kitten*.

Wow..This is not the site for you then. Keep tracking. It gets less of a pain in the you know what the more data you have entered. Save your recipes
  • I know that feel! ughh. its like it soo hard. i downloaded the app and at first it was awesome because you could jusr barcode everything but after a while it just got annoying and i stopped. you should try doing this with friends, its very encouraging like that! (:

What turned me off of tracking was logging something and it being incorrect. I'd have to go through 5 or 6 of the same brand/food and all would be the wrong info.

I'm a techie/video game type person who's never seen without a smart phone or tablet in his hand. Asking me to track is just asking me to take 30 secs away from the twitter or words with friends app on my phone. Plus I tend to log 80% of my meals and workouts in the morning before I leave the house and just update the changes.

Perhaps tracking isn't for you. Who cares? You've had TREMENDOUS results so just do what you're doing. More than one way to skin a cat, and you've already found yours.
  • It can be annoying sometimes, but you gotta get outta that lazy mindset if you're gonna get anywhere, anyway! I know all about it lol. But it really only takes a couple mins and helps sooo much. And the more you learn about how many calories are in what, the easier it is to come up with low calories meals or snacks. I'm not sure where I'd be without this, honestly. The idea of keeping track of meals and calories seemed crazy to me before, but this makes it so much easier than writing things down and doing the math and all that. Down 21lbs in 7 wks and haven't skipped a day! You can do it!!! :)

Lol...its that I am not lazy...just get fed up with incorrect items. I tracked well before I join mfp in 2009.

Tracking is tedious sometimes. I skipped it in 2011 and gained 15-20 lbs, though.

I'm surprised with as long as you've been tracking, you even have to fumble around in the database for foods anymore. They say most people only eat a small number of foods. You must venture out often! (Wow, congrats on your losses!)

My wife cooks a lot so I blame her. Tracking was easier when I was just eating eggs tuna and chicken daily lol....

It's become a habit for me now (524 days with no break) but if you don't want to log or track food - then don't do it!
If you've already lost weight, then you should know what and how to eat.

I know there are lots of duplicate entries, but I use the ones I'm familiar with and if you haven't found all the tricks to find what you want by now - then you mustn't have been paying attention to what you are doing!
  • i have a hard time with this myself i work at a salon and we eat when we get a chance and sometimes its get what you can in 15 min and hope it last till the next 15 min break and i don't think to track and i don't cook alot my hubby does so i have no clue what calories are in there and how to even track things like fresh fruit and veggies so i haven't really ever tracked . if you know of an android app that is real good and accurate i think i would track more.

I found it annoying too. But I saved a bunch of recipes of most of the foods I eat so logging can be faster instead of looking through the data base & not always finding what I was looking for...I just started. Feel free to add me! =)

I have issues also. I tracked my food intake one day and it was 1300 cals. i know i'm under 2000 for the day typically and that's my goal with me running with a goal of 4+ days of 20-30 min a piece

Completely understand the frustration!! I found that the barcode scanning option on my phone was a lot easier and more accurate then searching for the right information! I know not everyone has asmart phone. The only other thing I can think of is to calculate your food and just add as quick cals.
