I am new to this. Wondering if you used 1200 calories, work out get calories back and then use them again... if you can still work out and gain them back a second time? Does that count

Any and all exercise you log during the day counts, assuming you're honest with yourself about it. I doesn't matter whether you work out before or after you've used the 1200, or how many sessions you work out. That said, you should be aware that the database tends to overestimate the burn for many people. I got my best results when I ate back about 2/3rds of the exercise calories calculated by MFP. I eat 100% now, but rely on the less generous calculator at mapmyrun.com to do the math.

Your total workout calories for the day will be added back. If you have a 1200 calorie goal, and workout in the morning and burn 500, then your goal will be 1700. If you workout again in the afternoon for another 500, your goal will be 2200 (1200+500+500).
