I want to do something different and new this year for christmas. I have two kids 3 & 6 and im a single parent. I dont have a lot of money but I want to start saving now for christmas. Any ideas of places to go for the holidays? I live in savannah georgia. I would love to go to disney but it is so expensive.

You should seriously check with the company Get Away Today Vacations. They have the best vacation deals of anyone I have looked at. They beat every online website too..... Lots of options0

The flights might look daunting - but if you get out of the United States you are going to get a much better bang for your buck. Seriously - Mexico, Guatemala, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Belize. Seriously I was able to do a month in Guatemala and Honduras (not recommended due to instability at the moment) for less than $1,000 - including airfare.
You need to NOT think resort - stay with locals, eat local food - it's cheap, it's life affirming, and in my opinion, the ONLY way to travel!0 -

It is cheap and if you camp near a beach, it is quite fun.
West Palm Beach (where I live) is about 2 hours South/East of Disney and last year, I camped on Peanut Island for Christmas. We had pretty much the entire island to ourselfs.0 -
I just moved out of Savannah!!!
Are you planning to go somewhere this winter? Or were you thinking more like, I want to give my kids a vacation and tell them about it for Christmas and then go sometime the next year? Have you always lived in Savannah? Have your kids seen snow (not including that whole barely a dusting of snow and the city closes down stuff, lol but a real winter snow?) You could find a cheap place up north that typically gets a lot of snow and go there! Being from the north and knowing how to drive in snow, I'd say you could even make a road trip out of it and stop at a bunch of random places a long the way, but if you're not comfortable with possible driving in the snow, I'd say maybe not!
What about a trip to Atlanta? I've never personally been... but there's the aquarium, the World of Coke, and isn't there a Legoland or something like that there as well? I'm sure you could find plenty to do! And being you're already in Savannah, it wouldn't be too long of a drive for your kids!

Have you considered going to Gatlinburg, TN? I'm not sure how far that is from Savannah, but it is cheap and fun. You can rent a chalet of any size depending on how many you are taking. Also, since your kids haven't seen snow they have a ski lodge there with man made snow all season long. They give skiing lessons for all ages, have an ice skating rink, restaurant, bar, amusement park, etc. There are also a lot of fun things to do like zip lining, miniature golf, shopping outlets, Ripley's Aquarium, dinner shows, helicopter rides, Dollywood, etc.
I am 1 1/2 hours from there and I visit often. Ten miles from Gatlinburg is Pigeon Forge and it's called Christmas City. It's beautiful during that time of year.
Here are some of the links.
