New here, looking for cardio music ideas...

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone could shoot me some ideas for hip hop type cardio/ dance music. Rap and hip hop are not exactly my prefered genre but I enjoy the fast paced beats and find it easy to move to... Pretty much anything heart pumping with a good beat will do! I would be grateful for any ideas.

Thanks in advance!

I work with a bunch of Brazilian soccer players...and needless to say their music has made it's way into my workouts... Try looking at this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcm55lU9knw. It's a Brazilian guy named Michael Telo and the song is called Ai Se Eu Te Pego. I by no means speak Portuguese, but I know all the words (and what they mean).
  • I love Linkin Park's music. They are hard rock and rap combined.

I don't have an MP3 player currently lol it broke and I'm cheap... looking for mainly rap/hiphop type things. Also the brazilain music link was nice to listen to, has almost a cajun type beat to it. Not quiet what I am looking for, but thank you both very much for sharing

PodRunner on iTunes is a free workout podcast that updates every week with an hour's workout (groove, funk, electric music) that has a beat per minute tag to each ( indicating how fast the music will be and can choose specific to the intensity of your workout). The BPM really does propel me to work harder and an hour speeds by. Check it out: http://www.djsteveboy.com/mixes.html

If you're into rock and techno check out Pendulum, Deadmau5 and Kascade. I listen to those stations on Pandora and they're alwayys playing good beats.

thank you everyone for the ideas so far, some pretty good ones in there. I just find that my prefered genres (60's and 70's rock and head music) arent exactly as fast paced as i need for cardio. I also enjoy heavy rock for working out strength training and knocking a heavy bag around lol my angry music
  • For pop/hip hop/dance genre:

Bulletproof (Tiborg Remix) - La Roux
Where Have You Been - Rihanna
More (RedOne Jimmy Joker Remix) - Usher
    Rack City - Tyga
    We Found Love - Rihanna
    Kyoto - Skrillex
    Bangarang - Skrillex
    Brokenhearted - Karmin
On The Floor - JLO and Pitbull

Also pretty much anything by David Guetta.
  • Hi: Go to youtube.com and search "hip hop cardio". That's a beginning!
  • You are so right! When I get home from work and do not feel like exercising, I just start up a Pendulum CD and the rest is history.

Have you looked at Reggeaton? It's hip hop in Spanish pretty much. The beats are always fun to workout to and if you don't like the genre, then it's good you can't (Unless you speak Spanish) understand the words haha. For example, Gasolina by Daddy Yankee.

I use Pandora Radio App on my iphone, I know they have it on Droids as well. They have "workout" stations if you add a new station by Genre and they have like 10 different stations. Good luck to you all!

Any house or techno music is good for when you wanna get pumped up fast... and if you wanna keep running longer, just listen to pop songs that have a fast beat :) don't listen to slow things... dang it they slow you down! :D

Can't say that I listen to alot of newer hip-hop. I do like some of LL Cool J. One of my favs is Baby and Control Myself w/ JLO. Pretty upbeat. I also like to listen to some Electronica like Skrillex and Feedme.

My favorite go to song is not the typical but I swear by it. "A little less Conversation" By Elvis Presley. When I am walking or jogging, it just pumps me up beyond belief. Its about 6 minutes long and the increasing tempo is infectious.

Don't diss it till you try it. Its empowering and infectious!!!
  • Bump for later, I have been wanting some ideas too!
  • I hate to admit it but Brittany Spears has good songs for this.
  • You can also try Zumba music or find a Zumba class close to you. This is a great workout and the music is what I use when working out because it is awesome.

Currently, I am an oldies, juke joint, and blues listener but, I don't know what got in to me yesterday because t I decided to take it back to the 80's and played the following songs below. I was a true hip-hop fanatic when I was in my teenage and 20's life, I am not for sure if this music rings a bell to the younger generation, but you will be surprised when you hear the beat(s) because today's hip hop beats are derived from the songs below:

    1. Looking for the Perfect Beat~~~~Soul Sonic Force
    2. Don't Stop...Planet Rock~~~~~~ Bambaataa & The Soul Sonic Force
    3. The Ditty ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Paperboy
    4. I'm That Type of Guy~~~~~~~~~LL Cool J

I was swinging my three pound dumbbells in the air (like I just didn't care), and almost starting break dancing on the treadmill. Let's not forget, I nearly fell of the machine because I was stepping and dancing a little faster than the speed of 2.2-2.4...lol. Next thing I knew, I was at one mile in no time. I had to look at the last phone call that I made to my sister to make sure that my 26 minutes were up that quick!
