Kettlebell & Heel pain

Hello,

I started taking kettle bell classes last week. I took it Thursday and noticed slight pain/tenderness in right heel over the weekend. I took it again last night and now it's really bothering me when I put any weight on it. They require you to be barefoot or shoes similar to the 5 finger shoes. I was barefoot for both sessions. Has anyone had this issue with doing exercises barefoot or is it just a fluke? Any opinions/thoughts are welcome.

Thanks!

When my friend started barefoot running she had that complaint until the shape of her feet changed over time. I havent heard of a kettlebell class before where its required to be barefoot. Maybe you have a weak heel and need the support of a shoe during excercise? Can you not ask the trainer if you can try it with shoes and see if you still have a problem?

I emailed the instructor to see if he has had anyone else complain about it. I'll see if I can try it with sneakers the next time.

I think if you need to do it with shoes they usually recommend something with a flatter sole, like a Converse Chuck Taylor style shoe, not like a built-up, cushy running shoe or cross trainer.
