INSANITY and calories burned? Bodymedia Fit Armband

Hey everyone!

So I started the second day of Insanity today. I did my fitness test yesterday and logged my calories from my Bodymedia Fit armband. I also did the same today (I wear it all day and night besides in the shower).

I was kind of surprised that Bodymedia Fit was only logging 333 calories for my Insanity workout? Does this sound right? I thought and have heard from so many people its usually like 500-700 calories? I seriously gave it my ALL too.

Anyone here done Insanity and used a Bodymedia Fit armband in conjunction to see how many calories it burns?

Needless to say Im actually really disapointed, I really thought I gave it everything and would see at least 400-500 burned.

With the 40 minute insanity videos I burn about 320-340. It's because of the slow-down for the stretching after the warmup. My HR goes almost back to resting in that time... I'm 5'7", 36 yrs old and 168 lbs. The hour-long ones will, of course, give you a higher burn, but you'll have to get through the first month haha.

Consider the other gains you'll make from doing Insanity... it's not just about the burn. It's about agility training and coordination, cardio health etc.

That sounds about right to me for the first month videos. I think that's about what I burned too, according to my Bodymedia band. And then my calories burned went up to the 500-600 range for the second month videos.

insanity is this very hard workout video made by BeachBody or something like that. the armband is just an armband that you where when you excercise to see how many calories you've burned.

I've completed Insanity and I NEVER EVER burnt more then 400 couple calories with any given routine. I know many people who say they burn 500+ with insanity but I was never one of those people. I am 37 yrs old, 5'4 currently 166...I just finished Insanity the Asylum a little over a month ago and the most I ever burnt with that program was 423 calories.

Honestly I can burn more calories with a less intense routine. Say like P90X plyo. But then again I am probably the only person to ever do Insanity and Asylum and GAIN weight.

I'm doing Revabs now and even though it is not an extreme program like Insanity I am losing weight and doing great

Wow thanks guys for all the replies.

So can I assume my Bodymedia Fit armband is accurate?

I was talking to a friend of mine who is also doing Insanity and he says that he thought also it would be at leas 500 calories but was really surprised it was less than 400?

I am doing over 500 for the second month but in the 300's for most of the first month. That's according to my HRM. I haven't lost weight but my goal is losing body fat, not weight. Pretty darn happy with my results so far. My friends can tell a difference in my legs and arms.

Is your Bodymedia Fit armband telling you its about 500 calories?

Im just confused at to why so many people say 500+ but my armband reads less than 400+. I feel like Im really giving it my all but to see 400 is kind of weird.

People who use an HRM on Reddit are raving 600+!
    I dont get it.

Are they talking about the first month videos or the second month videos? 300-400 for the first month videos sounds about right. The second month videos are longer by about 15-20 minutes and are much harder and more intense. I know those are the videos where I burn 500-600 cals, but for the first month videos, I burn 300-400 cals....

    Here's a link to Insanity:

    I prefer P90-X (I own them both):

Both routines are tried and tested - you really can't go wrong with either. From what I've seen, a lot of people start with P90-X and then go to Insanity, but that might be because P90-X has been around longer.
