Hello, I just joined a few minutes ago. I am looking to lose another 80 pounds. I have already lost 80 pounds by myself but it has taken me almost 3 years to do this. It is very frustrating, especially when I have to lose the same 10 pounds over and over again. I have been down to 235, then back up to 250 and then back down again. I have done this for the past 6 months. I have had several major medical problems during this time which makes it even more difficult. In May 2010 I had a double mastectomy due to breast cancer, which was about 6 months into my diet plans. I actually lost 10 pounds during surgery, that was the only good thing about losing both my breasts. It helped me with my back problems, although I still have a little trouble with my balance now and again. I still walk funny and I still stumble at times, you really don't realize how much your breasts are used for balance until you lose them. Then in February of last year I fell and severely broke my right arm. I had to have surgery at the time of the accident, and it was not healing properly. I could not pick up anything over 3 pounds, which limits what you can do. I am right handed so I had to learn to do lots of things over again. I had to have surgery again in September of last year to have a hernia repaired, and the day after surgery I fell again, on my right arm again. I was alone at the time of the fall and I had to wait until my Mom got home from work and found me and helped me back up. I had my arm x-rayed after the fall, and everything looked ok, but it wasn't. The metal bar that was placed in my arm had moved and I had to have another surgery this past May. But I have still continued to lose the weight, although it has been a long hard battle. I am also going through a divorce after 19 years of marriage. So as you can see there is a ton of stress in my life. I started out at 320 pounds at Christmas of 2009 and as of today, June 27, 2012, I weigh 242 pounds. I am hoping that by starting this journal and this website that I can get the motivation and help that I need to continue losing the weight. If you want to know more about me or to be a weight loss buddy just let me know. I would love to get to know you too.

Welcome! Congrats on your weight loss success through such trying times in your life. I've been using MFP for about a week and a half, maybe two weeks now and I really like it. Logging the calories and exercise is easy and the people I've met are so friendly and supportive. Feel free to add me, we can help motivate each other as we continue on our journeys.0

Good for you getting on here! You've been through enough for ten people, so it's great that you are reaching out to a community who can help. Good luck, and enjoy the journey. We're all lucky to be here and to have support where (and whenever!) we need it most.0

I've been losing active with MFP for 8 weeks now. My job is mostly seditary - a rock gets more exercise than I do at times - but if I can do it, anyone can.
MFP is simple to use. All you have to do is remember to input your food, and be honest. Now that you're into the system, you know how many calories you have for the day... plan accordingly. It might be tough at first, but my start happened going into lots of Graduation Receptions, and I didn't have a single piece of cake! :noway:
Which part of Nebraska are you in? That makes a difference as well in terms of when you can exercise, so plan accordingly on that as well! Again, you can do it!

Hi Deb,
Welcome to MFP. I joined here just a few days ago and have already lost 4 pounds so far this week. You have done really well for losing so much weight on your own, especially given the experiences life has thrown at you. I am from Kent, England and started my journey this week weighing 204lbs. I am going to lose a minimum of 64 pounds but obviously will continue to remain here within the community once ive reached my goal. I am a good listener, supporter, motivator of others (shame I'm not so good at motivating myself sometimes ha ha), but if you would like to add me as a friend, please feel free to do so.
Good luck on your weight loss journey ... You are strong and can reach your goal x0
