Detox program

I have been struggling with my weight. To give some background: I was down to 132 back late last year, but due to circumstances in my life, I was put on Celexa for depression. I started out on 20 mg, but then my dr increased it to 40 mg. Well, because of that med, despite all the efforts I did, I put on 15 lbs (I am back up to around 148-149). Once the scale topped the 50's again, I went back to the drs and told her she needed to switch me to something different. I have worked way too hard to put my weight back on. So, 4 weeks ago, I was transitioned to Wellbutrin. The weight gain has stopped, but I can't get the weight to budge no matter what I do. My brother's wedding is in less than 3 weeks, and I can't fit the dress I bought to wear. I am so frustrated to the point of tears.

Anyway, someone suggested a detox program (something quick and easy). I found the 3-day spring cleaning detox program by Gaiam life - it uses food as a natural detox. Has anyone heard of it? Did it work? Or do you suggest something else? I can't do anything ridiculous or will cost an arm and a leg. This detox lays out all my meals for 3 days and the calories are averaging around 1500. What do you think? It looks legit to me. Thanks in advance for the advice.

I've never done one, but if it uses real food and gives you 1500 calories a day, it seems at least safe.

I have tried several different programs. I now stick with Advocare cleanse. I have had people drop 30 lbs and 15 inches in the program. When looking at different programs, you have to research what it's actually doing. If it tells you to drink some toxic crap and sit on the toilet for 2 days then run! I like herbal type cleanses. There is FAT that can't be removed by exercise and dieting. So many of the foods we have eaten our whole life lacks enzymes to break the food down and it can remain undigested in your body for years. I draw the analogy of a 5 lane highway. If we eat alot of junk food or processed food throughout our life, that 5 line highway has 3 lanes shut down right now. Just think of how much more energy you could have and how better your body could digest food if all 5 lanes were open. A good detox will remove that fat and open those lanes again. When people talk about supplements and vitamins I always note that everyone needs a good multivitamin. Sure the commercials say it has a little bit of every vitamin from A to Zinc. But the true value in a multi is it also contains enzymes that help break down food that isn't being digested.

I tried a seven day cleanse from GNC! The first time I used it I did follow a healthy eating regime, but the second time I could feel my body disposing off all the junk inside much better! I was even regulated afterwards, and that is a huge problem for us ladies! Research, reseach, research! If you know a personal trainer, ask them for their opinion! They should have some good insite!

I just read up on the Gaiam Life Detox 101. I think I am going to try one of their suggestions. They are all about using food to cleanse and have safe healthy suggestions, like one says if you get too hungry you can go ahead and eat some fruit, and do yoga for exercise so you don't fall out. I hate those ones that you have to buy a supplement powder or a pill to detox. It seems like a pill kinda misses the purpose of a detox to me!
