OK...I am trying to change up my exercise routine because I seem to be stuck...I have been walking A LOT and Pilates every other day or so. This past Monday, I started a fairly good cardio DVD....20-30 minutes every day......a lot like the 30 Day Shred stuff, strength and cardio together.....and I walk 2 to 3 miles everyday still...............but how much exercise should I be doing everyday? I read on one site that I should burn more than I eat....but that would mean I would have to work HARD out for two hours a day just for the 1200 the MFP has me set at....not including exercise calories. I just don't have that kind of time...or at this point....ability!! Any ideas?

It really depends on your body and what you're trying to accomplish. I do about 30-45 minutes of exercise a day and aim to burn 300-400 calories a day. I also make sure I include strength/resistance training 3 days a week. But everyone is different.

I think that burning more than you eat sounds like pretty bad advice, personally.
  • lol...That's what I thought when I read that too....

I've been hitting about 300-350 the last couple days, so I guess I'm heading in the right direction. :)

    Thank you!!!

I think the burning more calories than you eat includes the amount of calories you burn daily without working out. (I think?) I mean that's what I always assumed so maybe if you just burned a few more calories during exercise a day that would help you. I could be wrong so please don't accept this as completely sound advice. But I guess it's worth a try!
