I love Chinese food...but every damn time I eat it, even a whole cup of cashew chicken and 1/2 cup of fried rice, I gain a lb in water weight0
-
Just had egg drop soup tonight and shared chicken lo mein with my daughter. It was so yum BUT the sodium will kill me....I had three glasses of water with dinner and now I am determined to drink two more bottles of water before bedtime!!0

I ate chinese weekly...twice a week here for a while and ran my cholesterol out the window. Thankful now that I have it under control just by avoiding it. But I tell ya, I'm aiming for that buffet soon...and I mean REALLY soon. lol OH MAN!!!! I was invited tonight out to chinese btw. lol I had to avoid it0

I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Chinese food as well.
Can you ask them to steam your veggies and chicken?
Go for healthier options, i know its hard cause every inch of me wants to order Chicken in garlic sauce with brown rice but i know its a ridic amount of calories (ill still order it sometimes to fill the craving) so ill order chicken and broccoli steamed, and the sauce on the side. Fills my craving for chinese and makes you feel soooooooooo good after.
I know out here in NY chinese spots cater to the healthy minded people. They have a separate section on their menu called "Gym Food" haha and its mostly steamed.0 -
Not strong enough yet for Chinese. I love it and always eat two big plates. So for now I can only dream of eating it.0

I didn't avoid it... I ate chinese food. Of course my portion size was small but the fact that I was putting all that deep fried food in my body made me feel bad afterwards. This is me ranting. About to go see how many calories I can burn off before the sun goes down!
Sweet & Sour Chicken + Crab Ragoons= Public Enemy #1
eating food shouldn't make you feel badly. especially eating in, it sounds like, moderation. but, if you can't get over it, I'll have your chinese food. I'll just add it to my portion.0 -
You have no idea. I work at a Chinese food place and I get a discount on everything. ugh. I just get steamed chicken and broccoli with brown sauce on the side and brown rice.0
-
Crab Rangoons are my weakness, lol. I went out for Chinese last week with my husband....first time in forever! I did good on my chicken mei fun (I portioned it into 3 meals easily), but I ate all 8 of the crab rangoons, mentally cursing myself the entire time. Yuuuuuuum!0

Low sodium soy sauce, veggies, some meat, a large portion of Chinese doesn't have to unhealthy nor high in calories.0
-
I have Chinese buffet usually once or twice a week.
Steamed broccoli with a little bit of broccoli beef or chicken sauce for the flavor
Jalepeno chicken
Plain rice
2 crab rangoons
Amazing, delicious, and not too horrible sodium-wise.0 -
Oh so bad for you but oh so yummy.0

Like crack. LOL. Always need a fix? What do they put in it, and those BBQ Spare Rib OMG!!!!!!!0 -
This is a make over for that fatty Chinese finger food we all love and you could make them even more healthy with a mix of fat free and low fat cream cheese, not a fan of many fat free foods no fat often equals no taste!
Baked crab Rangoon
1 (170 gram) can crabmeat
8 oz Light Brick Cream Cheese Spread, softened
2 green onions, thinly sliced
1/4 cup CANOLA CHOLESTEROL FREE MAYONNAISE
12 wonton wrappers
Directions
Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Mix crabmeat, cream cheese spread, onions and dressing.
Spray 12 muffin cups with cooking spray. Gently place 1 won ton wrapper in each cup, allowing edges of wrappers to extend above sides of cups. Fill evenly with crabmeat mixture.
Bake 18 to 20 min. or until edges are golden brown and filling is heated through. Serve warm. Garnish with chopped green onions, if desired.
Footnotes
Make Ahead: For other entertaining ideas, pre-bake won ton wrappers in muffin cups at 350 degrees F for 5 to 8 min. or until golden brown. Remove from muffin cups; cool. Store in airtight container at room temperature up to 1 week. Fill with your favourite filling just before serving.

I guess the fact that I still have China Garden in my phone says it all!
I thought I was the only one that had resturants on speed dial. Let me get those numbers out my phone.   :bigsmile:0 -

My fiance LOVES the Chinese buffet, so I formulated a strategy for when I go.
1) Eat a big salad first. Keep your dressing on the side or use vinegar instead.
2) Look out for vegetables. Our buffet has these delicious grilled mushrooms that aren't swimming in oil or butter. They also have some dishes such as "Buddha's Delight," which is a bunch of Chinese vegetables sauteed with tofu.
3) Use tiny portions for other things, especially anything fried or battered. Don't stack your food.
4) If you must have dessert, steer clear of the dessert bar and head to the fruit bar instead. Most buffets have watermelon and oranges.
5) Bring a notebook with you and write down everything you eat.
Last time I went I did these, still ate some of my favorite dishes, and came in at 420 calories. Try this if your family/friends force you to go with them, but you still want to be able to eat something.0 -
I have a love hate relationship with General Tsos chicken!!
But it's got soooo much sodium!!! grrrr.0 -

Baked crab Rangoon
I want to hug you right now lol0 -
Thanks give them a try they are hug worthy!0

I always order steamed chicken and veggies with the garlic sauce on the side. I dip my fork into the sauce before stabbing a piece of chicken and vegtable. Saves a ton of calories! Then, I go for the fruits for dessert and end with a 25 calorie fortune cookie! I avoid the rice because it's so high in calories and I'll need those extra calories for a snack in about an hour after I eat Chinese food!0

AHHH i gave in to temptation and went to the chinese buffet last night.... hate myself today but was in love last night.....0
