I'm always negative at the end of the day with my vitamin c, is it bad to consume too much?

As I understand it vitamin C is water soluble so any extra your body doesn't need you pee out :)
  • No, not really.

No, it's water soluble and will flush out of your body within a few hours anyways. If you take vitamin C tablets and take too much (I think it would be near impossible to OD on eating too much vit. C) you can get a stomach ache and diarrhea.

It can cause upset stomach & the runs if you really go over your limit. Pretty unlikely if you're going over from food, but if you're packing in a lot of fruits & a C-heavy supplement, it's possible.

If it is, I'm screwed, hehe.

As long as I can remember, I eat/drink enough citrus that my family has joked my blood is probably acidic. I like grapefruit, oranges, strawberrier (love strawberries); I eat lemons and limes like I eat oranges. I add enough lemon juice to my water to turn my water a milky color. I have had people ask me if I wanted some water with my lemon juice :o). As a child, I would even sometimes even drink straight lemon juice!

At this point in time, I have seen no ill side effects...maybe the only one I have seen/been told is that I will wear out the enamal on my teeth quickly. But, no ill side effects otherwise. Granted, I am not a doctor or dietician (sp) tho.

You would have to take quite a bit to OD on vitamen C. Symptoms are nausea, stomach cramping and insomnia. Also too much can increase your risk of kidney stones. So be careful!

And tmi moment, I have not had this happen to me. I was even told too much watermelon can do this. I was really surprised because I can eat half a watermelon by myself and have no repercusions (unless I just plain over eat on it).

I saw a show on NETFLIX. They said in the past 20 years, there is a total of 6 people in the USA that have overdosed on Vitamins. They were also talking about feeding a cancer patient a KILO, yes, a KILO of vitamin C per day.

I have to be careful with Vitamin C and Calcium because both can cause kidney stones and I've had kidney stones too many times to count. I still eat way over on my Vitamin C in fruits, but never take supplements with it and I seem to be doing better since I started eating healthier and stopped drinking sodas.
