i have been asked and seen many questions about drinking alcohol on a diet, I found this article to be direct and to the point:

Thank you for posting this.
I've been saying this since I started on here to no avail.
A refreshing change to see someone with common sense on here!0 -
Good info. I like to drink occasionally, but have lowered my consumption recently. Of course, I've considered banking my calories a bit so I could drink more later. And I don't normally tend to snack after drinking, so that wouldn't have been a problem. The problem would be that I'd get drunk very easily on an empty stomach (causing me to possibly drink more), and I'd lose the entire next day to a hangover. Plus I wouldn't get proper nutrition. So now I'll just try to keep the drinking moderate and maybe burn off some extra calories through exercise the next day. When I worked in a restaurant a few years ago, it was crazy to see many people drinking a lot of liquor, trying to lose weight, and saying it didn't count because their drinks had no carbs!0

Thanks for submitting that great article! I see people drinking whiskey, gin, etc. because they don't have "carbs" so, therefore, are better for weight loss. Some of these people are the same ones who over-eat meat, butter, and eggs, but wouldn't touch a chip or cookie if they were starving! Needless to say, I don't see their weight going down much, if any. No surprise there.0

The term "Beer Belly" is justly named. I had some wine on my anniversary back in January but not since then. That's not a daily/weekly/monthly thing I support. It doesn't match my goals for being healthy and fit. Great article and reminder why I pass the wine aisle and never regret it.0

I gave up drinking mostly because I'd rather eat my calories. I still drink from time to time, but only a few times a year. It also used to take a good 10 drinks to get "nice". Now I find a decent buzz on 3-4. *shrug* Priorities.0

It's all about what you want. If you want to drink, go right ahead but at least do it mindful of how it will effect your weight loss goals. I quit drinking because of a problem unrelated to weight loss. I look at it kinda like smoking, if you are aware of the risks at hand and still choose to smoke, that is your right and go ahead The only bad decision you make is an uninformed one, thanks for the info.0
