Body shapes!!! Question!

Hi guys!

So I was looking and wondering about body shapes.

How delightful to have an hourglass figure, even now at 179 lbs. Even at 192 lbs. I carry the weight pretty well standing in an upright position. I consider myself fortunate to have this shape.

But I was just looking at different types of body shapes, some I would hate to have. And i was wondering, does your body shape change as you lose weight? Like if I have an hourglass shape now, and then i go and lose 50 lbs, will I still have this silhouette? Or is it possible that I will turn into a pear shape or the dreaded apple shape??

I took my most recent measurements:
Chest 42"
Waist (smallest part): 36"
Waist (at the bellybutton): 43"
Hips 43"

To look at me from the front, I'm a curvy hourglass. But my stupid BELLY is like a flabby pregnant lady. And my measurements would suggest an apple shape, I think...

I'm just wondering, if I do all this right, will my belly flatten out; will I maintain this shape?

Can anybody tell me ANYTHING about this?

I think you'll generally maintain your shape because your shape is based on how your body carries fat deposits. When you lose fat, it tends to be all over, which is why all the journals and blogs out there say that targeted fat burning doesn't work.

My 200 lb measurements were 44-35-45 and a 14/16 size. My current 180ish lb measurements are 41-33-43 and a 12/14.

My belly is the same way. Obvious waist, but I avoid all cute empire waisted shirts out of fear of being thought pregnant.
  • Generally, you do maintain your body shape:
    HOWEVER- at nearly 200lbs I was a 34-32-47
The last time I was in the 140's, I was 32-27-35 (essentially an hourglass).
It all depends on the kind of workouts that you do and how your bone structure is. No, you cannot target a specific area, but you can do different types of exercise to tone different areas to different degrees once you lose the weight. Unfortunately, at some point, there won't be any fat left and you'll be stuck with whatever shape you are.

I would like to point out though that regardless of what "shape" a woman is, if she feels good and is wearing clothing that fits her, she will always be beautiful.

I believe you keep your overall shape, but it looks a little less extreme at lower weights.

When I started I was probably (didn't measure but looking where I am now) 42"-32"-42" and my boobs looked ginormous. Now I'm 34"-27"-35", still hour glass but not extreme.

Losing about 35 pounds took me from an hourglass to a pear!!! Boobs peaced out really quick- but the hips are just not going anywhere! Damn bones ;~)

I'm an apple shape, because I carry my fat on my belly. When I lose the weight (I've done it once before to my goal) my waist definitely gets disproportionately smaller i.e. I get more hour-glass-y :D Eventually, that is... But I'll never have a small waist relative to my hips. My hip measurement is only as big as it is because my booty sticks to the back. To look at me from the front you'd think my hips and waist were the same measurement. (See photos in my profile)

i've been changing body types. it's like "who am i today?"

it's been awhile since i was at my goal weight so i cant quite recall what my shape was, so it'll be interesting to see what i'm left with.

when i first started at 224, i think i was just huge butterball shape. then for a bit i was looking like an hourglass, then i started looking like a pear. now i just think i'm actually a ruler shape who just so happens to have large breasts and large thighs.

I'm a true hourglass and I've kept the shape as I've lost weight. I started out with measurements similar to yours (when I took them at 192 or so). I'm now 166 and I'm measuring at 39-32-41. So I'm a little heavier on the bottom than before, but the shape is still very much hourglass, and a lot of the remaining weight will come of belly and hips.

    Good luck!

Thank you guys! Another thing to look forward to: a nice hourglass figure, and not all of a sudden being a straight line!

When I lost weight in the past I went from a perfect hourglass to an hourglassy pear. Now as I lose again I feel like I'm still peary but I haven't lost my hourglass. So I think you can change a bit but it's going to be the same general shape.
