take pity....

Ok, so I'm really not a pitiful person, but some days you just need a word of encouragement! I had double leg surgery about 2 weeks ago (bilateral anterior compartment fasciotomy). Recovery has actually gone really well and I was released from a wheelchair after a week and allowed to cycle and do core/upper body work.

Here's the part where I want pity - for the first time since the surgery, I'm in pain. Not terrible I want my legs cut off, but just bad enough that I'm stuck spending the entire weekend inside icing and with my legs elevated...so, if it wouldn't kill ya...a bit of pity wouldn't hurt =) Don't worry, when you need it I'll be sure to return the favor!

How about a big ole hug and some really good vibrations?

I'm sorry you're in pain. I think maybe a pain pill to alleviate your discomfort and a nice long nap might help you a little.

I completely understand ... so here's your pity. :flowerforyou:

But it will only last as long as the pain - then I want you to go back and get you some! Seriously, take care of your body - it's the only one you get.

3 weeks ago, I sprained my knee, which led to a diagnosis of Sever Degenerative Arthritis. I have been ok'd to bike and do core work, and that's fine, but I was walking an hour every morning. Now I get on "the machine of death" and go go go until I can go no longer.. and days like yesterday where I did a little extra... I over did it. I am so tired of elevating and icing... I could scream!!

You have my pity... I understand how much it sucks!! But, you aren't alone!! You can do it, and before you know it, you will be back out there, no ice needed!!

    Friend me if you want!

Just double check with your surgeon about your leg pain since you haven't had pain until now. There might be a reason for this and he/she may need to see you. Just to be safe.

I feel for you. My hubs ruptured his achilles 3 weeks ago saving our daughter in the pool. He had surgery and all that and is looking at fall b/f he walks w/o a boot or anything. All the icing and elevation ....I see how hard its been on him, so I understand. I sprained my foot, wrist and tailbone 2 days b/f delivering my son. Even though it was only about a week of icing and elevation the limitations it put on me for about 4 weeks was miserable :( It will get better, but for now..YOU HAVE MY PITY :)

Sorry that you're hurting. You might check with your doctor. I remember my back surgery and I didn't feel any pain, until I started to heal. Turns out, I needed to have the staples removed a week earlier than I needed to.

thanks guys! I appreciate, and although the advice is great, all I really needed was a word of encouragement. I'm a Certified Athletic Trainer and the ortho that did my surgery is actually the team doctor that I work with on a regular basis. Needless to say, I know how to take care of myself...and if it was more serious that just some soreness....he's always just a text away... but thanks nonetheless!
