    Arugula from my garden, grilled or roasted grape tomatoes/bell peppers/zucchini on salad, over rice, with whole grain pasta, raspberries and strawberries, pineapple..

    Just thinking about berries makes my mouth water. I love them all and especially all together. So pretty! And greens - kale, spinach, beet greens, chards I love then and how they make me feel.

    Blackberries and strawberries, because they're the most filling with the lowest cals. Oh and strawberries are my favorite fruit taste wise!

    Bananas, because they are amazing in my protein shakes.

    Broccoli, because it's the best vegetable ever. Like, seriously.

    Cherries!!! You can eat a lot for a little calories, and they are low on the glycemic index!

    Also Apricots....17 calories each and so filling...can't go wrong!

    Green beans, wax beans, spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, potatoes (but not so much now), carrots, apples, oranges, strawberries, peaches, tomatoes.
  • Celery, cucumbers, spinach, mushrooms, broccoli and cauliflower for the veggies. I've been really loving most berries (except blueberries, I have to tuck those into a smoothie to enjoy them) and mango. The best treat I've found, in this awful heat, is frozen mango chunks. They help cool me down and they're sweet enough to be a nice treat!

    raw jimaca or yambean mixed with salt and pepper - I found the recipe online accidentally and decided to try it because it is very low calorie and quite filling. I found that I like it a lot. It is almost like waterchest nuts, except more watery. It is excellent for water, fiber, vitamins - even has a bit of protein. Go on youtube and look at it. I leave out the oil part - it really does not need it. I found the cooked version does not taste as good for me.

    Zucchini (grilled with olive oil & balsamic)
    Sweet potatoes
    Orange bell peppers (or red, or yellow)
    Eggplant (grilled or made into baba ganoush)
    Mushrooms
    Corn on the cob (local ag college is famous for their fresh sweet corn - people line up for it!)

    I live in central California with a year round growing season, and most of these items are grown practically in my backyard. Well, some of them literally as I have a garden and citrus trees. :tongue: But we are totally spoiled on fresh produce here!

    Edited to add: forgot to answer why! I love all these fruits and veggies because they are tasty and good for you! Especially the berries - I mix those in my greek yogurt all the time. The bell peppers & snap peas I dip into hummus for a healthy, filling snack. Homegrown cherry tomatoes also go with hummus, or into the grill basket with the zucchini & mushrooms, or I just eat them like candy - so good! As much as I love hummus, baba ganoush is even tasiter in my opinion, just more time consuming to make. But I love love love it, and dip pita chips or veggies in it. Or put it on burgers. Hummus on burgers instead of mayo is also tasty.
