And it's not coming back until July 7th. I feel so thrown off from my usual routine -- can't make hot coffee, can't make my morning oatmeal, can't cook dinner. I already got bread and jelly to make PBJ for lunch all week, and baby carrots and apples to keep in a cooler. But aside from that - suggestions? I can't think of many things that don't need to be heated or refrigerated, and it's just not practical making trips to the store to get fresh items to use before each meal. No way to store leftovers either besides two coolers we have. Also, I'm vegan. Any ideas for me?

Tortilla/sandwich wraps with what ever you like inside (peanut butter, veggies). They have the low carb kind with high protein and plenty of fiber. They don't really have to be heated up.

Nuts of course, rice cakes to put peanut butter on,healthy protein bars, and coconut water are what I can think of at the moment.

Sorry about your power outage. We experienced it Friday night visiting in St Louis but they got the power back on. I feel for you. Power outages are definitly an inconvenience.

Do you have a grill? I grew up in the DC area where the power goes out several times a year, We used the grill to make everything, just takes some playing around, You can use the grill like a burner or oven if you are careful, we totally made oatmeal and heated water for instant coffee, rice etc on the grill. I would say get those styrofoam coolers that sell for a few dollars each, if you can, it will help. also lots of veggies can last awhile without refrigeration, keep them in a closet or somewhere they wont get too hot, but carrots, apples, bananas, celery, peppers, tomatoes, most things will last days without being kept cold. so salads are a great option too.

Mine too, out since Friday afternoon and utility is saying Wednesday for restoration.

I buy small (3 oz) cans of tuna and chicken to put on salad.

    Good luck!

Any ideas for a quick breakfast? I really don't have the time to heat up the grill while I'm getting ready in the morning.
