Hey everybody! My name is Rachel, and I'm 26 years old. I've been married for over 3 years and have 2 children. I recently graduated with an A.S. in Medical Assisting and work for a local OB/GYN. I absolutely love my family and my job.
I used to be very heavy. I weighed almost 250 lbs at my heaviest at a mere 5'2". I lost close to 90 pounds and have hovered around there for over two years, including during my pregnancy. I gained a bit after my daughter was born and have lost it all again. I haven't been able to break the 160 lb mark and am really hoping that myfitnesspal can help. I'm aiming for 135 lbs, which puts my BMI right at 24. If I can't quite get that small, I'm ok with that too. I just want to be healthy.
I am a runner. I've been running almost 3 years. I've run 2 5Ks and am training for my first half marathon in October. I'll be running the Rock n Roll Half in Saint Louis.
I'm really excited to have heard about this site. I think it has really helped me find my food weaknesses, and I love that it doesn't promote extreme weight loss. I've suffered from disordered eating in the past, and I can attest that it is really bad for you. Whether it's self-induced starvation or binging and purging, it's not worth it. While weight loss might be your ultimate goal, you should always strive for mental and emotional wellness too. I think that will be the most important thing for me on this journey I'm on. If I can love myself and treat my body with respect, everything else will fall into place.
Nice to meet you all!

Good , healthy attitude. Too many time I hear people bemoaning that the pounds are not going away when they should focus on the healthy choice and how they are feeling. Congratulations on your success.0

Hope all goes well for you. I say that I an 5' 3" on a good day, so I understand the sizing issue. If you are fit, you may actually weigh more than people think. I have recently lost weight and people are thinking I am 15 - 20 lbs. lighter. It really is about being healthy, though I am prone to slip food wise from time to timel. I am hoping to participate in my first half marathon in November. Be thankful you have started this earlier than I have...age wise that is! The half has been on my to do list for years.
Good luck!0
