So how many have stuck to their "New Year's Resolutions"?
It's been 6 months. You still in it or have you resigned? Obviously people whom I've deleted after no activity for over a month have resigned if they did make one, but how about those that are on here still?
For me, I'm a little off, but I can fix that with a little more discipline.

I have 100% because I never set new year resolutions.
My goals don't suddenly change on any date.
They are what they are.
Today is July 2, 2012, and if you have not sat down and considered your goals, don't wait for Jan 1st.
TODAY is the day; this moment is the moment you've been waiting for.
Write down all the things you want in life, then get to work TODAY :flowerforyou:

No, you're no dummy, but this is good info.
Let your fitness goals work in conjunction with everything else. Our goal areas are like spokes in a wheel.
Balance is key. Good Luck, and remember....

I started in Jan and by April was at goal weight and am holding strong!!!! Worked as a great start date for me!!!!0

I can't remember if I made a resolution or not. I think next year I will resolve to remember my resolution.0

started when my grandad died i got real skinny then this year went on a bulk so to speak so yes I am better than I was yesterday but not as good as I will be tomorrow always room for improvement but doing better and lookin the best ive ever looked0

For me it was my November resolution. The day I got doctor's clearance to be active again, I joined the gym, and had my first session with my trainer the next day. I've remembered how good it feels to really push my body to it's limits, and I plan on never letting that go again.0

I know I made one.... But dammit if I cant remember it.
either way, I'm sure I'm still doing it.0 -
I didn't made a new years resolution though I did started around that time so I guess I qualify.
I did stuck to it. I think I made decent progress, I fell alot and had to pick myself up (with help from friends) but my progress isn't anywhere near what I wanted. I have been losing 1 lb. per week which is decent but for some reason after 4 months I have yet not made enough change to warrant being asked "have you been losing weight" or other remarks like that though I do feel great personally so I can't and shouldn't complain0 -
Don't make 'em.
So can't break 'em!!!0 -
...... I don't even remember my resolution :laugh:0

I have - not fitness related (well probably is to a degree) but I've officially not had a cigarette since December 31st - woo hoo :bigsmile:0
-
I'm still here everyday, and I look forward to reading your posts along with a few others. Thanks!0

I resolved to lose 38 pounds this year and I'm still here and still at it! I've lost 29 pounds since joining MFP in January and still going strong!0
-
I'm still at it, and will forever be. It was a lifestyle change!0

I didn't make it a "new year's resolution" just a for me resolution... maybe that is why it is working for me this time0

I've done well with sticking to the first half of my resolution. The other have seems to be escaping me!
My resolution is this:
Complete two 10K's before the end of the year.
Complete three 5K's, each with a finish time of less than 40 minutes.
I have one 10K done and the next one will be Thanksgiving, so there is the first half.
I have done two 5Ks so far BUT the finishing times were: 42 mins :noway: and then 40 mins, 38 SECONDS!! :explode:
SOOOO my slow butt still needs to do an additional three 5K's and really focus on speeding myself up so that I cross that finish line in less than 40 mins. I still have plenty of time though. PLUS I am signed up for a Spartan Sprint race in December (my first attempt at a Spartan race!) so the next 6 months should be great! :huh:0 -
I didn't wait for New Years. I started on this mission on November 20th. Down 40 pounds and I'm on maintenance. Gets easier and better as I go.0

I posted this to my personal blog back in January, I like to look at it everyone once in a while to see how I'm doing
I'm doing fair on 1 and 2
I'm doing well on 3
I'm doing excellent on 4
5 hasn't started yet.
Ok, everyone makes resolutions and I've had varying levels of success keeping them but here they are.
1) Get to bed at a reasonable time during the week.
Degree of difficulty: Minor
Plan to achieve: I'm going to need to make sure that food is cleaned up and put away and the dishes are in the dishwasher before settling in for TV or reading. I'm up too late now because suddenly it's past 11:00 and I have to deal with the dishes and leftovers before I can go to bed and suddenly it's midnight. However, Poker nights I'm probably going to be getting home too late as a rule, but if I bust, it's time to head home and I can find out later who won. Also no caffiene after 7:00
2) Read more.
Degree of difficulty: medium
Plan to achieve: I'm going to have to figure out a time where the TV goes off and the kindle, or actual book comes out. Maybe 10:00 except mondays. I have actual lunch buddies so reading at lunch is out, at least until the spring when I might decide I'm reading outside anyway and taking an hour lunch instead of a half hour.
I was reading quite a bit until Skyrim and the job, I need to fix that, especially since there's a lot of kindle content I want to borrow available from the NH public libraries.
3) Have a night out with my wife once a month
Degree of difficulty: medium
Plan to achieve: We need to leverage those people who have offered to sit and actually ask them to watch the pumpkin. Dave and Maureen have been very willing to sit unless there's a bruins home game but we should probably spread the asking around a little.
4) Lose weight
Degree of difficulty: Medium to high
I've done this before, the two pictures below were taken less than a year apart (about 11 months), and after I had my gallbladder out 7 years prior to that I went from 263 to 175 in just over a year
Plan to Achieve: There's a bit to it, but first and foremost, The South Beach Diet. It's time to bring back the ingreedient Nazi. No processed flour, no simple carbohydrates, as little bad fat as is possible, splenda rather than sugar, leaner cuts of meat and having healthy snacks between meals so I'm not starving and eating too much.
I'll also have to not have over a dozen beers every weekend at camp and not eat food just because its there.
Finally I'm going to hit the gym on the way home from work maybe 3 or 4 days a week just not until I'm past phase 1 of South Beach. It leaves me pretty wiped until I can add in some fruit and whole grains and I'm doing a LOT of walking at work anyway.
My immediate goal is to get into extra large shirts and then eventually size 38 and below pants (best I've managed in my adult life is 34 and Medium shirts)
5) Keep the weight I lose off.
Degree of Difficulty: Very
This is something I've had issues with my whole life. I took off over 40 pounds when I was 19. I took off almost 100 pounds when I was 27, I took off over 75 pounds when I was 34. Every time I've put it back as I fell back into bad habits I can't let it happen again. Yo-yo dieting is very unhealthy, some say it's less unhealthy to never take the weight off.
Plan to Acheive: I'm still working on it, it will definately involve still exercising and still watching what I eat.0
