Favorite Sayings To Get You Through A Tough Workout

Went for a bike ride the other day and my brother said he had heard the following saying: "Sweat is just your fat crying". A lady on a different thread said the guys at her gym say: "Pain is weakness leaving the body". I actually used this as motivation when my legs were killing me. Any other great sayings???

    Here are a few:

"The only bad workout is the one that didn't happen"

"No one ever drowned in sweat"

"If you went running when you first started thinking about it, you'd be back by now"

"A year from now you'll wish you had started today"

"To exercise or NOT to exercise? What a stupid question!" LoL!!

I really don't have a saying...I just think about how much body fat I used to have, how high my cholesterol used to be, and how happy I am now. And also, how badly I want a six-pack. :P

If I had to put it in to a saying, it'd be, "You've changed a lot so far, but let's go farther."

No sayings, only maths. I can do 2k on a rower easy as hell. So when I did 12k, it was a constant divvying up of the remaining distance. Saw it as a set of 2's, 1/3rd way through, 5k left - done that before so why not again and now? Etc etc etc.

And then the last 2k is purely "It is nearly over, get it done quick and then you can sprawl on the floor whimpering like a broken woman!!!" and I end up putting in PB's!

"suck it up" "push through it" "you got this" "breathe" "it will be over before you know it and think how good you'll feel"
Sometimes I just think about how a year ago I NEVER would have been able to do it.

lol I do this too! especially with swimming. I break it up into hundreds or fifties. :)
  • I stole this from Jason Ellis: 'Harden the f**k up!' I say this every time that I want to quit, still have 5 miles to go, 10 minutes left or one more segment to go. It's crude, but I push through it. :embarassed:

An adaptation of the Bene Gesserit saying:

    I must not fear pain.
    Fear is the fat-keeper.
Fear is the little-death that stops fat obliteration.
    I will face my pain.
I will permit pain to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will burn the inner fat to reveal myself.
When the fat has gone I will see muscle.
    Only I will remain.

When I am on one of my runs and I begin to get tired and wanting to stop, I tell myself "If you stop now, you just wasted that whole first part of your run." It helps me stay on track mentally.
