Dieting Secrets for Fat Loss

1. You can’t magically lose weight unless you eat less or burn more calories with activity. Not unless you take drugs and those either make you eat less or burn more anyhow.
wrong, try again.0 -
The equation is this:
*kitten* busting work + consistency + time = results.
Also could add that:
*kitten* busting work + consistency + time = routine that no longer feels like *kitten* busting work0 -
so true - but I SO wish it was easier0

It may not be easy but it is simple.
There's a lot of power in simplicity.
Admittedly, if your body is the equivalent of a race car and you want to complete athletically at the highest levels then the minor details DO become very important. For everyone else though....0 -
Agree! It really is that simple, we make it harder than it has to be. A few yrs ago I lost 20 lbs (have since gained back) but people asked me if I was on a special diet and I said "yes the old fashioned one of eating right and exercising"0

Thank you Captain Obvious!
Of all the brilliance in this man's mind and this is the best you've gotten out of it. I was looking for real tips and not just the stuff I already know.
Boo!
And what would you be contributing besides criticism and negativity?
Just looking for something more. Sorry.
Then you're completely missing the point.0 -
Great post! I was a little worried by the title that you were going to say that I had to give up bananas, or only eat before 7pm! LOL!! Glad to see some common sense0

The point is that I'm already doing ALL of that. Plateaus suck. But don't worry. You'll be there soon, and you too will understand my frustration. I'm sorry I posted in this thread first place.
To the OP. Yeah, good stuff. Lyle McDonald has a wealth of other useful information too. Enjoy his books!0 -

I may or may not plateau sometime. Some people do, some don't. I realize it's a possibility. However, when and if I do, I will remember that what is said in the OP is true, and that there's no magic fix. It's something I will have to work through, without being nasty to other people or wishing it on them.0 -
Yes I agree. Its the calorie counting that works for me. Excersize speeds up to process.0

Next time don't sugar coat it so much JF. :-) good straight talk. The only magic I ever found in lc is that it allows me to keep my appetite in check.0

If you're plateauing, your body is probably asking for more food. Try it for a week and see what happens.0 -
*kitten* busting work + consistency + time = results.
Burn that into your head and quit looking for quick fixes and secrets.
Because they don’t exist.
I agree with the spirit of the post, but I don't think it takes *kitten* busting work. I think it takes planning and patience, mostly. Studies say a big determinant of who succeeds is who believes they will if they just stick to their plan.
Though your plan can definitely include *kitten* busting work if you like it that way! I've never done it that way. Unless you mean weighing and logging food every day for months on end, while you hit your pedometer goals every day. I think it's more mind numbing than *kitten* busting. :laugh:0 -

The "Guide to Flexible Dieting" is one of the most helpful books for people that aren't already at a low bodyfat percentage. For some reason, I'm expecting you to say, "I've read it. Didn't help. Try again."0 -

4. All diet books, no matter what line of bull[*#$&*#!] they sell you, are working in terms of a-d. Cutting all of the carbs out of your diet will generally make you eat less, so will cutting out all of the fat, so do diets that change your eating habits in one fashion or another. Some books go the activity route. At the end of the day, even if they tell you that you don’t have to eat less to lose weight, they will trick you into doing it one way or another.
I especially like this one. No matter what we do, it ends up being healthier and or less calories, and or more activity. Low carb works for me especially since I don't ever binge on the things that are not carbs. And its going to slowly train me to eat like a normal healthy person as I go through the 3 phases of low carb.0
