HIIT, how often?

Hi everyone,
would just like to ask a quick question about HIIT. I've been doing a fair bit of cardio and to tell you the truth I'm getting fed up with it. One way I've got out of the boredom is by doing HIIT on my treadmill. I workout every day but vary my speeds, some days I just power walk and other I walk and jog. Now I've started HIIT I'm sprinting for 45 seconds and then walking for 1 min, doing this for 30 mins. How often should I do this? There are so many conflicting ideas out there I would love to know what you guys think.
Many thanks in advance.

HIIT works your muscles like weight-training. You continue to burn calories for 48-hours while your muscles repair themselves. Like weight-training, you need to give those muscles a break. So, do your HIIT training every other day. Concentrate on upper-body weight-training on the alternate days.0

I Definitely don't recommend that you do HIIT every day. I wouldn't do it more than every other day, but probably would stick to twice a week.0

Yep, I third that...
But, you can up your HIIT a little bit on days you do it. One of my favorites is two minutes high (5.5 speed or faster), two minutes low (3.5-4.0), then jump off and do lunges for a minute. Repeat until you fall over and die (or until you've done 6 sets). I've been sick and only managed 35 minutes yesterday, but even so, my muscles are sore. (Don't forget to warm up and cool down- at around 3.2-3.5 for about 5 minutes on each end.)0 -
I usually walk for a minute, then run (6-7 mph on the treadmill) for a minute, and do that for a total of 15 minutes. I'll do that maybe two to three times a week, along with abs, weights and my martial arts class. It's working for the most part......0
