I used to workout with the fellow that is talked about in this letter. I just thought this was extremely motivational and could help some of you.....

It is a bit long winded but seriously worth the read.....

Hey!

So usually I try to send the “motivational” type of articles on Mondays, but since Monday was a holiday (up in Canada anyways) today is kind of like the beginning the week so here we go...

What follows is a letter one of our BOOM Clients wrote for me and I wanted to share it with you because it is truly inspirational and shows that with some hard work and dedication, no matter what obstacles stand in your way, you can still transform your body and change your life.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did (although it got a little “dusty” in here when I was reading it and I must have “got something in my eye”....).

Take it away Linda:

“Most people would think that fighting cancer twice and surviving would be the life-altering event in one‘s life. Not so with me. Instead, a cascade of events due to being a poorly controlled Type II Diabetic would become my “ah-ha“ moments. On September 24, 2011, I was admitted to the hospital with acute right leg cellulites with complications of right-calf abscesses and blood clots. I was in hospital for five and a half weeks. I was then discharged with home-care support only to have repeated trips to emergency with further complications for the next two months. Life as I knew it changed forever. If I sound dramatic, I am not even close. Having cancer twice and all the surgeries and complications, while numerous, did not add up to the amount of time I spent in hospital this past fall. I lost almost 40 pounds (trust me, this is not the way to lose weight!). This weight loss combined with having to remain on bed rest with my legs elevated above my heart left me in a weakened debilitated state. I had to use a quad-cane to walk for balance and stability and I had to sit on a chair while I showered. To further complicate matters, while hospitalized, my husband drove himself to the hospital while having a heart attack! Suffice it to say, I was unable to be there for him as he had been for me during the countless times I was ill. This would become part of my motivation to get on the road to recovery. During this time family and friends helped us in many varied ways that we can never repay them in our lifetime. One of these ways was my friend Carol, who was transforming before everyone’s eyes, suggested that maybe I should check out this place, Boom Body Shaping Studio, and meet with this fellow, Cameron Makarchuk, and see if he might be able to help me like he was helping her. So, I did and the rest is history that is still being written as we speak (I told you, Cameron, I might get longwinded!).

When Cameron accepted the challenge of helping me to regain some sense of normalcy, I had a lot of doubts in my ability, and his, for me to do any of the exercises he was asking and showing me to do. Let’s just say I have been humbled over and over (and still am) by what seems easy for Cameron can be difficult for me. At first when I began this journey (so clichéd but so true!), I couldn’t string four workouts in a row without interruptions such as having the flu, overdosing accidentally on anti-clotting medication and repeat hospitalization for the same right leg infection. However, if I hadn’t been working out, I believe I would have been unable to recover in the way I did with these occurrences. For example, I spent FIVE days, not five and a half weeks, in hospital and I was back training with Cameron in one and a half weeks after being discharged from the hospital. THAT was, excuse my language, FREAKING amazing! Since the beginning of May, I have not missed one session and the week of June 18, for the first time, I did three sessions in one week. I then worked on building a shed which involved carpentry and a lot of physically demanding grunt work. I managed beyond my expectations. I began using words such as “empowered”, “strength” and “energy”, words I have never used to describe myself at any time in my life. To say that this is revelatory is an understatement. I finally get it. I have changed from the way I shop for groceries, mostly natural basic foods and no more processed food, as an example, to mentally and emotionally looking forward to my sessions with Cameron and his new challenges. If I can’t do it right away, I do it until I can. This is huge! I now want to do more and discover how far I can push myself, to feel a sense of empowerment (there’s that word again). Power: the feeling that you can accomplish anything that life lays in your path and have the ability to walk through it. WOW! (that is a 1000-watt light-bulb over my head).

I have a long way to go. I have better control over my diabetes and my insulin requirement is slowly decreasing (do I hear a YEAH!). Sooner than later, I will join the general population with regular workouts but not till Cameron deems that I am ready and it is safe for me to do so. He is, after all, my all-knowing guru! He has the innate sense that I can do these tasks even before I know it to be so. When I first started my sessions, my goal was very basic: to regain some energy and be able to walk without assistance. My goals now change from workout to workout, week to week and this astonishes me. The fact that my goals can change because I feel stronger and healthier, I now trust Cameron to help me achieve my goals, whatever they may be. I believe that things happen for a reason. It may take a while for those reasons to become clear, but when they do, everything that you’ve had to go through eventually makes perfect sense. I also believe that there are those among us whose presences become beacons of light in ones’ life at the darkest of times. One is my husband, David, whose strength and courage amazes me every day. Carol is another for without her, I never would have been introduced to Cameron, who will guide me to better health with his life-changing knowledge. There are others and they continue to inspire me in many different ways. I know this much: I will be able to run and chase not only my granddaughter, McKenna, but also her baby brother on the way! So, bring it on!”

-Linda Greening, ELITE client since March 2012

Thanks so much Linda, I really appreciate you sending that in and I’m looking forward to helping you continue to make the progress you want :)

Also, Linda didn’t mention this but she’s also lost a bunch of inches off her waist and is down a couple pant sizes I believe. Not bad for a woman in her 50’s, eh? ;)

So, what I want you take away from this is that where most people would get down on themselves, blame everything else for their situation and more or less give up, Linda has taken control of her life.

She has overcome a number of obstacles already and continues to do so.

She made hard decision to make drastic changes in her life and has been reaping the rewards of her hard work and dedication ever since.

Take a look at where you are right now. Is it where you want to be? Are you as fit and healthy as you’d like to be? As lean and strong as you’d like to be? If not, make the hard decision and change things in your life to get yourself to where you want to be. Give yourself the life you deserve to live.

And DO NOT say “I’ll do it in the Fall when things ‘get back to normal’”. I hear that all the time and it’s crap. Do it now and when things do “get back to normal” you’ll be better off and further ahead than the people who are just waiting.

Something I should note....I am not pushing a personal trainer. What I got from letter is exactly what exercise and working out can do for a person!
