Hi-
I started on my healthy eating plan yesterday (eating 1300 calories, according to MFP) and doing Jillian Michael's detox, involving drinking 64 oz of water, dandelion root tea, and lemon juice.
I ate really cleanly yesterday and had TONS of water, but when I woke up this morning, I had gained 3 pounds!!!
What gives?!
I'm freaking out!

You don't need to "detox", just eat less and exercise.0

Precisely.
Your kidney, liver and bowels were all designed to detox your body. Any other "detox" plan or "detox" pill is a load of crap because at the end of the day, it is still your liver, kidney and bowels that'll be cleaning you out. You'd be better off eating real foods (produce and meat) and not eating boxed/packaged stuff if you want to rid your body of junky things. No dandelion tea required.0 -
I think by 'detox' you mean still eating fruits, veggies and other healthy things but also drinking a ton of water and adding the tea, right? If memory serves, once you start drinking lots of water you usually a) have to pee a lot! b)may be a tad bloated for the first 24 hours or so since it hasn't been fully hydrated so wants to 'store' this water
If this detox is simply healthy eating at 1,300 calories and adding more water and an herbal tea I say stay the course and give it a few full days.0 -
its the water .... you'll be fine ... dont really detox .. I just stay within my cals and exc. my buns off ... no quick fixes out there BOO0

Well, to put it simply, it's water weight. Unless you magically went 10500 calories over your maintenance yesterday.
Don't worry about it! And trust me it's going to fluctuate. I'd suggest you don't weigh everyday and put yourself through this same scenario every time the scale moves around!0 -
I'm a believer in the detox, and agree that the weight is just water. Overnight weight gain (with a calorie deficit and high water consumption no less) is NEVER EVER fat gain....or anything else to freak out about.0

Thanks everyone!
It is a plan where I eat my recommended calories and in addition, drink a lot of water with a few ingredients in it (tea, cranberry, lemon).
I thought it was probably just the water weight, but I wanted to see if anyone else had experience with this.
I feel much better!0
