After a couple months of doing other things I thought I'd give it a try- Day 1: Horrible, sucked, I felt defeated. I made myself run everyday after that until either I liked it or became good at it.

Now I love it so much! :)

Don't have to be faster than the lions, just have to be faster than the other guy!

I am registered for my first half marathon (The Tinkerbell one at Disneyland next January) and I'll be doing my first Spartan Sprint in December. I am addicted and I love it! :drinker:

I'm doing the Tinkerbell in January, too! Hubby and I ran it last year (he was one of the 900 guys out of 11,000 women!) and decided to do it again this year.

Hehe we're signed up too so my hubby will also be one of the 900 guys ;)

I was always late for class lol!
^^ True but in the beginning I started running for weight loss. Then I realized that I actually enjoyed running just for running! About 2 years ago I needed a little extra motivation so I skipped the 5 and 10ks and signed up for a half marathon lol. That's when I fell in love with the atmosphere of racing! I don't think I'm particularly "good" at running or racing and sometimes it's a love/hate thing but I do enjoy it AND what it does for my body. I just completed my first full marathon a couple weekends ago and i'm not looking back!

Because I'm one of those who is intimidated by the gym and starting exercise in general.

I found C25K and it changed my life. :)

    I'm in Week 2 of C25K.

I started because, well, when the Zombie Apocalypse comes, I would have been screwed.

Cardio, Limber Up, Double Tap! Oh, and Carl! Get in the House!

The scale on 1/1/2012. AND - I wanted to set and accompish a goal for myself. (C25K) - did it - and yes, I find running very difficult, but I LOVE what it does for me, both mentally & physically...

When I started my life change journey I was able to walk a few blocks then huffing and puffing and pain as I progressed I would walk more then faster I walk a course at Jones beach on Long Island NY at it is measured 2 miles out then 2 back and I kept dropping the time I wanted to finish One day I was walking as fast as I could and just started to jog and jog and jog and now I love it I am older and still have 50 pounds to go but this is part of my life now
People ask if I am a runner I smile and ask you ever see me jog young girls walking pass me but I will be a runner some day

The only qualification for being a runner is that you run! You're it!

THIS! ^^^^^ Read my tracker, if you can....doesn't matter how fast you go or how long you run. If you've been running for a day or 20 years, you are a RUNNER! I tell myself this every time I run if I find I'm having a little trouble.

That's one of my favorite quotes!

I ran so I could eat more. Walking was becoming too time consuming LOL.

^^This! Walking wasn't doing it for me anymore, so I had to pick up the pace...

    ^This.

I started the C25K in February and had to quit because of a bad knee, but I still signed up for the 5k and walked it in 47 minutes, my goal was 45. Not bad for a walker. But my knee is better and I have started trying to run again. I just have a hard time with it. I want to love it, I really do! I walk at 4 mph and I jog at 4.5 mph, not much difference right? But it's so much harder! I think if I had a good pair of running shoes it would make a world of difference. It's the pain in my lower legs that makes me stop, not being out of breath. I am persistant though and I am running another 5k this weekend, the Color Me Rad 5k. It's not a timed event but should be fun anyway. I will keep at it until I learn to love it because it's one of the best things you can do to keep fit. I'm a work in progress.

I started the C25K program because I wanted to change up my workouts and help get my core in better shape. (Yes...it's actually working!!!) Now I continue to run cause I love that natural high it gives you when you're done...it makes me feel like I can do anything!!!

I started because I wanted to get in shape for the military. Now, even if I had changed my mind, I'd still run - it's become so much more than just a part of the PT test! I'm not the fastest out there, but it keeps me in shape, keeps my thoughts clear, and starts off my day just right. I overcame a lot of mental hurdles to get to the point I'm at now, and I'm sure not about to throw that away.

I don't really like it at all but it burns more calories than walking and I just signed up for my first 5K, the color run in November (hubby is doing it too and he also is not a running fan but we've been doing it anyways so we don't have to walk the whole 5K like losers, LOL.) At least it's more fun to do together...

I started running when I realized that any time I walked ANYWHERE, there was an urge inside of me to actually run instead. One day I said F it and started jogging (which killed me after about 20 seconds).

^^This!! I'm almost finished with Week 6 C25K and am ready to tackle my 1st 5K this month. I can't believe how awesome running makes you feel!

It's the only think I ever thought I "couldn't do" so I decided to hell with it... I'd start running just to prove I can.

I'm not that good at it, but I always have fun. Tomorrow is my towns 4th of July 5k and I'll be running with a bunch of my students, family, and friends. Really, does it get any better than that??

I'm with these two. I could either being walking on an incline at a super fast pace forever or just start running.

So I picked up C25K and will be doing week 2 day 2 tomorrow.

Plus I've always hated running, so I want to see if I can actually enjoy it.. haven't gotten totally there yet, but I do feel pretty awesome when I complete a day of C25K.

I love the freedom and the space to think in peace.....which I don't get to do as I have 3 very vocal kids! I had to give it up after I developed back and pelvic problems during my second pregnancy. I've just taken it up again & I still love it! Off with injury at the moment, so I'm counting down the days to next monday when I can go back out again!

I get quite grumpy when I can't run, and the static cycle at home just doesn't give me the same high....runners that is lol.

Good attitude! And don't worry about being "good at it". There's something very comforting about being a mediocre runner- I know I'll never be an elite runner, and I won't ever be the last person to finish a race either- so it's all about competition with myself only, and everyone around you is also competing with themselves. That spirit makes the general race population very encouraging- cheering on everyone around them, good spirited competition rather than mean competition.

The first time I ever really ran was in Tae Kwon Do- so I didn't have a choice!
That was always short little jaunts though that I was the last one in the group to finish. As I tried to lose more and more weight I added running to my days. That was back in college. I am trying to get back to running again, but a little treadmill here and there is all I have mustered so far this summer!
