I'm Going to a concert tomorrow and I'm just curious as to how many calories one would burn from moshing, it seems like a pretty intense work-out so im curious as to how many calories i could possibly burn

Depends on who is playing.0

Pick something that seems like a similar effort level and look up the calories. For me, most moderate to high intensity cardio buys me about 10cals per minute, so I would guesstimate based on that.
Or you could wear a heart rate monitor.0 -
Depends on who is playing.
I totally agree!!!0 -
I do not honestly think there is a way to rate that, I would say not as many as you might think. I have been in a few mosh pits, and the most that happens is lots of bruises and or broken body parts (havent seen this part myself). Though you hurt from it, its from bruises and I am pretty sure bruises dont burn calories. As far as running and jumping around, count as a cardio and how ever long you do it for.0

lol that too ahah0 -
How do you expect anyone to answer that question? There's way too many variables that it depends on.0

If someone crowd surfs I'd totally count that as lifting.0

Very true, but in this situation its a metal show, so fast pace and a lot of running around and jumping and pushing :P0 -
I'd say take the evening off from your diet, dance your butt off, and then get a slurpee and snickers on the way home. That should balance out.0
-
Count it like jumping jacks, jumping rope, that kind of thing. Only I would put it for about a third of the length of the concert. At least that is what i looks like from the edges to me. Lol, I've not been in the pits, but they are fun to watch.0

My guess would be a LOT. I recall my moshing days and the sweat would pour - it was practically military grade cardio.0

Of course, if it's accompanied by copious quantities of beer, as my moshing periods always were, then chances are you'll not burn a thing. :happy:0

And when they cry, just be like "Shut up sissy, I am trying to keep my heart rate above 160"0

I was wondering this last night, after getting home from seeing Static X (really good show). Honestly, most of the pits at Trees seem like a mix of football and wrestling. So I went and and looked up 60 minutes of both: football - 943, wrestling - 650 (seems REALLY low). The average is 747ish, so I took the liberty of adding a "Moshing" category.
I'm really enjoying the site so far. It's been helpful.0 -
