what counts?

Hi MFP users....I am new to this whole message board thing , so i hope i get this right.. Here is my question, i work in a factory, my job is physical, on my feet all day, lifting , pushing , pulling hand trucks with up to 1000 lbs on them, climbing up and down ladders, etc. do i count this as exercise? if so how do i calculate it? I do also go to gym few days a week too.

Thanks for Help! Hamfam5

I wouldnt put it in as exercise no. but thats just me. i would just see it as something extra but not enough to count. Even though you are probably loosing calories while doing it.

you just need to find your own prefrences

I wouldn't put it in either... if it is the same thing you always do and have been doing .....only if it is over and above your normal routine already.. I would just calculate your setup (your activity level under your profile) as very active so your daily calorie intake may be higher right off the bat..but I would not add in your work every day... in order to see change you have to step it up from what you already do... sad to say but if you are already active, you have to get more active... easy for me.. before I started this I was totally sedentary.. even my job is 1/2 the time at a desk so I calculate my activity level as sedentary...then my calories are low and if I do something I add it in....keep up the good work!!!
