Gluten Intolerant?

Hey MFP.
So my friend who is a professional nutritionist suggested to me the reason why I may have trouble with a lot of bloating and feeling lethargic after i eat is because I may be intolerant to gluten.
I had never really thought of it until now. Im slim, but still around a stone and a half overweight now.
Though that's great and all, i still feel like my pre - weight loss bloating and my tummy does bloat like...immensley.
Then by the next morning, my tummy is flat again. I know its common to bloat after eating but having all my energy drained afterwards and having the belly of a 4 months pregnant lady after my meal isnt really the way i wanna go
This only happens when i eat any type of bread, eggs, certain pastas, lentil soup and potatoes.
I dont tend to eat a lot of bread and carbs but i do love potatoes and pastas. Though i try not to indulge in them too much either the last few months.
So when my friend suggested this, it got me thinking.
My dad is Glucose Intolerant though eh tends to just ignore it cuz he loves his food haha, maybe i should try a low glucose diet.
Does anyone else suffer from this? And if so, have any tips, recipes, stories etc?
Discuss please

Yes, this happens to me. I now eat a very low wheat/gluten diet and it has made a huge difference. I have fibromyalgia and wheat sensitivity is a trigger for this condition. The bloating and fatigue after meals was awful. I gave up gluten in April and now sneak in a little bit for a special meal or for something I am really missing. But it hasn't been that hard and I don't really miss it at all. What's the worse that happens? You might feel better. . .0

Hmmm thank you, how do you find food that make you feel satisfied and wont keep you hungry for long periods of time?
I found that fish and a big greek salad does that for me but i cant eat that everyday haha.
Thanks for your feedback0 -
Hi,
Yes I am gluten intolerant as well. I avoid bread, pasta, biscuits and cakes, and eat almost no carbs in the evening to minimise the bloating.
I tend to load my non gluten carbs at breakfast (porridge) and lunch (ryvita, rye bread or rice etc) and then stick to just protein and veg / salad / fruit in the evenings.
This way I never get the fatigue and bloating. I do sometimes indulge in bread which I adore but I know the risks I am running and the likely outcome, but during weight loss regime times I try to avoid it altogether...
Try gluten free pastas, wholegrain rice and new potatoes or rice noodles if you want / need more carbs.
Hope this helps.

You're title says gluten, but in your post you say glucose so I'm not entirely sure which one you are referring to. If it is gluten, there are lots of options. Potatoes and lentils are naturally gluten free. And gluten free pasta is actually pretty good. Just try different things and you'll find your favorite gluten-free items quickly. Most supermarkets have a gluten-free selection nowadays.0

Haha sorry, i meant Gluten, all fixed now
Thank you ladies, I'm not much of a carb eater but when i do eat them it just makes it all wierd for me. And losing weight is that much slower.
How about Rice?? x0 -
A lot of things have gluten. I was surprised when I learned about soy sauce. Read all labels. They do make gluten-free beer :drinker:0
