my question is, i really push myself during workouts. if i am over doing it will my body still continue to lose weight? i eat as the doctor recommends about 1250 calories per day. i do not eat back my calories. i usually lose 3 pounds a week. i started 5 weeks ago and have lost 16 pounds so far. i also began hip hop abs 5 weeks ago for about 30 to 45 minutes a day. 3 weeks ago i increased to 60 to 75 minute workouts 6 to 7 days a week. yesterday and especially today were really hard on me. i felt like i had no energy left to keep going. since i've become more used to the dvds, i have been putting more energy into the workouts also. i also just got sore this week and never was till a few days ago. i get a vitamin b shot weekly and take potassium, calcium and vitamin e pills daily. any one have any advice on why my body isnt adapting to the workouts? they should be getting easier. i appreciate your feedback. thanks.

You may need to eat more to fuel your body for those workouts. The harder you run a car the more gas it uses.0

I AGREE0 -
you need rest days
^ That too0 -
You need rest days AND to eat more. 3 pounds a week is too fast. Your body is screaming at you that it's burned out (no energy) and unable to recover (sore) - I don't know why people ignore this stuff.0

rest and eat more. even if the doctor is a certified nutritionist or whatever, i would still eat above what he recommends because you are obviously in need of more food to fuel your body.0

I agree with eating back some of those exercise calories and taking a day for rest here and there. You'd be surprised how much better you feel, your body will thank you to feed it and let it rest and recover. Working out intensely and for long period of time means your body needs additional nutrients and yes calories to fuel the increased activity. If you have a really accurate way of measuring your calorie burn (HRM with chest strap) I'd recommend eating most of your exercise calories. If you have to go off of MFP estimates, I'd recommend being a little more conservative but still eating some of them back.0

Agree with above.. Reading posts om MFP, most agree 1200 cal is a minimum and should eat back workout calories. If you are not eating your workout calories you are probably way below the 1200 and your body just needs more fuel. Rest days are important for you body to recover. If you need to do something everyday maybe alternate between cardio, strength training and ab work outs so your not taxing all muscles every day.0 -
I agree with everyone. You need to eat more (at least half your work out calories unless you have a HRM than I would eat even more of them back) and take at least one rest day a week.0

thank you all very much!0

You might be coming down with something.0

Definitely need to eat more.
I hope I'm not prying, but are you on the Dr. Bernstein's Diet?
Is that why you are getting those B shots?0 -
your doctor may not have thought about how much exercise you would do, you should go back and explain your situation to him/her, get new revised advice0

We all want to lose weight super fast, but think about it. Did you GAIN 3 lbs per week to get to your heaviest weight? Don't push yourself too hard. You will burn out and end up putting it all back on. Best of luck and hang in there.0

because we were raised with the notion that no pain no gain.0 -
You might try changing up the intensity levels-- heavier some days and lighter others. If it is a particular joint or body part that is getting sore, you might find an exercise that is easier on that. Less impact if it is your knees etc. Hope that is helpful. Good luck.0

You are OVER-TRAINED.
Rest, eat and allow your body the time it needs to recover.
If not, you'll wash out and probably die fat.
Rest is just as important as diet and exercise.
Good Luck :flowerforyou:0 -

THIS IS TRUE.
Rest days give your body time to repair and build muscle. 3 lb a week is very, very fast...
Exercise + healthy eating + rest + time = healthy weight loss
Good luck and have fun!0 -
Increase your calorie intake my at least 100 cals, eat back some of your burn only if you feel like it, have a snack before or after your workout, increase your fluid intake! Add 1 rest day a week. Then if you don't feel better next week add another 100 cals, continue to do this till you feel better or are eating at least NET calories of 1500 daily. Good luck0

Also up your protein, to avoid muscle fatigue0

Since you're doing this with doctor's guidance I would advise talking to him about whether or not that 1250 is supposed to cover the amount of activity you're doing. 1200 is the bare minimum and that's with no activity. It's pretty obvious that if you're putting out that much effort that you need to fuel it with more food and if your doc doesn't get that, then he obviously doesn't know what he's talking about and you'd be much better off getting weight loss advice from a specialist.
HHA may not be high intensity but it is a good workout - I can burn about 400 calories in an hour and used to get a lot more than that when I was heavier.0 -
Eat back some of the calories you burn..... Rest and make sure you are getting enough carbs0
