Gluten Free??

I have been considering (for a little while now) about adjusting my diet to one of a "gluten free" nature. I have been doing some research into the matter and am curious if any of you follow the same rules (for lack of better terminology) laid out in most of the books I have read. Also, if any of you have had trouble with figuring out a meal plan that sticks and that is simple for someone "on the go" (I find that I get bored with the same old same old very easily :grumble: and I am constantly on the go, so easier things to prepare and have on hand ahead of time would be beneficial). Your thoughts? Any advice, comments, whatever would be greatly appreciated  Also, if you do follow a gluten free diet and you wouldn't mind another "friend" then feel free to add me, maybe I can get an idea of how someone who has been doing this for a while manages the menu along with a busy lifestyle. Thanks everyone :flowerforyou:

Go to marksdailyapple.com lots of good information there. Primal/Paleo diet is pretty much a gluten free diet.

I haven't done grains for a few months, feeling great ... Snacks on the go? Hardboiled eggs, raw nuts and meaty leftovers are my mainstay, seems to work for me :)

(edit) Oh, and cheese, I tolerate it so a hunk of cheese is always a good option for me ...

My partner is Celiac and has to be gluten-free. While there are many, many substitutes for foods with gluten, going low carb has been the easiest way for her (and now me) to lose weight. Limiting my carbohydrates to those from fruits, vegetables, and nuts has really accelerated my previously stalled weight loss efforts.

There is lots of research to support that wheat is not as good for us as we've been trained to think. Some people choose to eliminate it and other people have no choice but to eliminate it.

Good luck with whichever course you take.

One big tip: Don't replace your gluten filled foods with the gluten free alternatives. These are often higher in calories than the regular versions, making them tough on weight loss. Go with real foods!

I'm grain, gluten, and legume free and have been for more than 6 months. Sometimes I have corn, but have been good about my eating for the most part.
