I have 20-25 lbs that ive been trying to drop forever. I work out like a champ 5-6x a week, and eat great (1450-1550 healthy cals, plenty of protein, lots of fruits n veggies, lots of water) 5-6x a week... but the 1-2x a week i go over at parties and luncheons, i go over BAD. likely 2K+ extra cals of mindless binge tendencies. im trying hard to break the habit- i stop tracking once i start screwing up, and then its all downhill. so i end up gaining back the same 5 or so lbs and working hard all week to lose it again. i basically bounce up and down the same 5 lbs repeatedly.

anyone else have this issue? almost no on i know can relate. i love working out and im training for an international distance triathlon...yet i cant seem to control this stupid habit.

feel free to comment- or add me. i'll stay on you (for this issue, or whatever problem u have)- but i need people to help keep me in check.

    Hi jamieK917,

I'm also training for tris:-) Since I workout frequently, I'm almost always hungry, so I have to watch my caloric intake and macros carefully. I can easily eat more than I should too.

I'll send you a friend request.

I understand completely, you are way more motivated than me already by going to the gym most days of the week, I can't even say I do that! But when it comes to going to a restaurant or another person's house, it sort of feels like you're off the hook, no one else at the party is dieting, so why should you have to? As hard as it may be, I think you still need to track the food you're eating no matter you're present location, because once you write down what it is you're eating, then you start to realize how much you are overeating.

Here is something that I came across that may help you: When scientists observed nearly 3,000 overweight twins, they saw that those who had previously dieted were more likely to die during the 18 years of the study than those who simply maintained the same weight. Researchers suspect that yo-yo dieting places so much stress on your body that it can outweigh the benefits of slimming down.

So don't stress your body and even through the temptation, see your goals and know that the extra calories are not worth it, but your goals and your health are worth it!! I hope you can beat this cycle!

First off, do you eat much fat in your diet? (avocados, nuts, natural meet fat that isn't loaded with hormones...)

Second, it is rough when you go out and "splurge" even if it is only once a week. My wife and I used to do strict Paleo all week but then on Saturday we would eat Tex-Mex, Pizza, French Fries, Ice Cream, Pancakes, Cookies, Margaritas... you get the idea... and we would gain back everything we lost the week prior! It sucked, but we started just realizing if we were going to splurge we needed to tone it down and just do it less often until we reached our goals. Aside from yesterday where I hate about 3 lbs of BBQ ribs and more beers than I can count on one hand, we have been doing awesome. Best of all, most of the junky foods I had craved when I was eating them all the time, I don't care much for anymore...
