Low carb dieting.

I was thinking about lowering the intake of my carbs some. My goal based on everything I've put into MFP is 208 but I never eat that many carbs (and I'm not even really paying attention). I've just looked at the past couple of days and my carbs at the end of the day were around 140. What would you recommend I lower my carb count to.
Also I hate the word "diet" but I do want to reduce my carb intake somewhat, I'm just not sure what a high amount of carbs is. Also what are some good low carb foods/meals to eat?
Thanks!

140g of carbs or 560 calories wouldn't be low on 1000 calories a day, but would be on 2000. 80-100g is generally low carb, less than 80g is usually ketogenic.
Cheese omelette, bacon and egg, sirloin steak with broccoli & green beans, spinach & kale.0 -
I am two weeks into my 'low/no carb diet' and I am surprised how easy it has been!
I dont eat complex carbohydrates as they make me sleepy - the energy boost I have got from cutting all potatoes, bread, pasta, rice etc is unreal. Meat fish vegetables (natural carbs) and fruit is all i live off....the meals are so much more interesting and inventive. I think i have aprox 40g carbs a day which are in the veggies.
Good luck!0 -

My body works best on 100-150g carbs per day.
I eat:
Breakfast - eggs, yoghurt, cottage cheese. I keep some good quality seedy bread in the freezer and have toast every 3-4 days with peanut butter or cheese.
Lunch - soup or salad. Or leftovers - I often deliberately overcook at dinner and then freeze single portion sizes for lunches.
Dinner - lean meat or fish with veg or salad. Small portion of rice or pasta ocasionally
Snacks - cheese, humous, roast soybeans/ chickpeas/ broad beans, wasabi peas, fruit0 -

Oh okay thank you! I think I will try reducing gradually and start at 100 for now then eventually go to 90 and then 80.0 -

I love that you've included cheese in a few things because I love cheese. Glad I don't have to give it up! Of course I'll have it in moderation. Thank you so much. I am going to lower my intake to 100 for now.0 -
