Trapezius muscles - sexy or gross?

I watched the movie "The Warrior" and Tom Hardy has HUGE trap muscles in that movie! I decided to try to build those muscles and think that I have done relatively well and last night I was told that they are "gross" and make me look like a meat head...Lol!

So - to everyone out there, do you think that muscle being large is sexy or gross? If you would ask this to me on a woman, I would so gross, but on a man I would say he is bad *kitten*,,,,,for what it is worth.

    hot, but only if the entire body i is built. big upper body and chicken legs is just not hot imo. lol

    i think tom hardy is sexy. period.

    but in general if they start to make you look like you have no neck then that's not sexy.

    For some reason, my traps are one of my most defined muscles and I never do any isolated work on them. I even have bigger guys at the gym come up to me on shoulder days when they're pumped asking me what I do to get them like that. I guess I was just genetically endowed??

    For some reason, my traps are one of my most defined muscles and I never do any isolated work on them. I even have bigger guys at the gym come up to me on shoulder days when they're pumped asking me what I do to get them like that. I guess I was just genetically endowed??

    Big as in out of proportion with the rest of your torso? Gross. Big as in defined and works with your body? Hot.

    It varies from person to person but I do think it can be overdone. Though that is with all things!

    Defined traps are hot. Over-sized traps are not. In My Opinion.

    I'm not into it. But then again, physical attraction for me is lower than some things. If a guy is hysterical, I don't really notice what he looks like. Good smile, funny, laughing eyes.... that gets me every time.

    Lesnar looks like an ape (I know....harsh). Tom Hardy looks great. Any more than that would be too much, IMHO.

    I think its sexy if they are defined, but if they are huge it looks gross. I think the guy in the link you provided looks like he has no neck. That isn't sexy, but if they are toned that is a plus

    I do have to say, traps really make or break a physique for me. When a guy is muscular with small traps, it just doesn't look right.

    Wow - super stoked to hear that traps don't gross people out. Not that mine are huge, but they are defined and stand up (guess I should attach a pic) but they are a useful muscle. Certainly make my job easier everyday, but so does just being fit. Thanks for all the responses and by the way, I take back that traps are gross in woman - you girls all pull it off!

    Much of it is genetics, my traps have always been very prominent. For a while I was working out only at my apartment gym with no actual barbells for deadlifts so did shrugs with dumbells along with rows...I think I'll skip any trap isolation going forward as I continue to lose weight, I'm not keen on the no neck look.
